10 Cute Easter Cake Balls

You would not believe the weekend that I had! I went to Texas for Spring Break and we started back Saturday morning for what was supposed to be an easy 8 hour drive.

10 Fun Easter Treats

I went out shopping last night looking for fun Easter gifts for my kids' baskets and was REALLY disappointed in the Easter candy and gift selections at the big stores.  There just wasn't anything cute or fun that I felt I had to have.

10 Easter Crafts from the Archives

Easter is only a few weeks away now.  Hopefully, there's still enough time to enjoy some great crafting and special holiday experiences with the family.

I'm taking some time off the blog this week to enjoy Spring Break with my family.  We are taking a breather from the stress of school, work, and closing our Candy store and just enjoying some one on one time with the kids.

Its Good to Be Different & Shindig Saturday

Wow! I got so busy planning and carrying out last minute projects for my Divergent party that I completely forgot to hit "publish" on today's Shindig Saturday.

With the end of the school semester, closing my store up, plans for spring break, and the Divergent party, it's a wonder I haven't lost my head.

I guess that shows you in how many different places my brain is lately.

I did find this AWESOME quote/printable from Total Book Nerd on Instagram that I had to share with you today.  You can find the pinterest pin here.

What did you do this week?  I can't wait to hear all about it

Divergent Party Invitation Printable

The Divergent movie comes out tomorrow.  I'm so excited, but a little worried that it will not live up to the hype.  Have you ever felt that way?  Book to movies are either wonderful or terrible.  Fortunatly, I am pretty easy going when it comes to just enjoying movies and not picking them apart, but I am a little worried.

I'm trying not to think about it and just enjoy the time spent in putting the pre-movie party together with activities for each of the different factions and fun treats for them.  If I can just get my kids to stop eating all the desserts, I think we'll be okay and I can finally share with you the final Divergent printable.

After all, you can't attend a Choosing Ceremony without an official invite can you?

Simply download and open it in free Adobe Acrobat.  If you don't have Adobe you can get it HERE for free.

You can open it and click the "SIGN" button in the upper right hand corner.  Now click the "ADD TEXT" button below that to add your party information.

Now just hit "PRINT".  Cut out the 5x7 inch invitation and Send!

Quick and Easy Cinnamon Roll Recipe

When I was growing up, we had a lady in our Church who made the most AHHMAZZING Cinnamon Rolls ever.  Whenever we had a fundraiser auction, she would make these rolls and they would be the HOT item.  As kids, we were pretty limited in our money stash, so it was a sad day to see these rolls go to some other home.
Quick and Easy Cinnamon Roll Recipe by Kandy Kreations

Finally, my brother figured out a way to get the coveted rolls.  He would do chores for the family and in return, this Cinnamon Roll Goddess would make him these rolls as a Thank You.

Pretty impressive thinking for a boy if you would have asked my thirteen year old self.

So whenever I think of service, these cinnamon rolls come to mind.  Since the Abnegation faction in the Divergent series is all about serving others, I decided these Quick and Easy Cinnamon rolls were going to have to come to our Divergent party.

Start by adding a 1/3 cup sugar, 3 Tablespoons of yeast, 1/2 cup oil, and 1 1/4 cup of warm water in a large bowl.  Mix until the yeast is dissolved.

Cover and let stand in a warm place for about 15 minutes.

Blend 2 eggs into the yeast mixture.

Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt into 5 1/4 cup of flour.

Gradually add to yeast mixture until a soft dough forms.

Kneed the dough on a slightly floured surface for about 5 minutes.

This is great for the kids to get a little bit of energy out and feel like they are helping and having fun.

Roll the dough out into a rectangle.

Brush with 1/4 cup melted butter.  Combine 1 1/2 Tablespoons cinnamon with 1/2 cup sugar and sprinkle over butter.

Roll the rectangle up and cut into slices.

Place the rolls in an ungreased cake pan.  Let rise for 10 minutes.

Bake at 425 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.

While the cinnamon rolls are baking, mix 2 cups of powdered sugar, 1 tsp softened butter, and 1/4 cup hot water until well blended.

Drizzle over the rolls while still warm.

What acts of service would you do for a good, gooey, sweet cinnamon roll?

10 Service Projects for Kids

In the Divergent world, the Abnegation faction is all about service and selflessness.

Therefore when trying to find a game for the Abnegation faction at my Divergent party, I decided I needed to look at activities that were about helping others.

I scoured the internet and found 10 Service Project Ideas for kids that we could do during our Divergent party.

St Patricks Day Mantel

May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light.
May good luck pursue you each morning and night.

Happy St Patrick's Day!

I wanted to take a break from my Divergent party today and enjoy a little Irish green with my St Patrick's Day mantel.

St Patricks Day Mantel by Kandy Kreations

When I was putting this together, I realized I don't have a lot of green decorations.  I definitely think that is something I am going to need to work on so I can smother the house next year for St Patrick's Day.

For now, I used most of the holiday decorations that I made for last years St Patrick's Day dinner on my fireplace mantel.

Shamrock Garland and Table Runner repurposed
I started by winding some Metallic Shamrock Garland along my mantel and around the Elliott letters that are a staple of my fireplace mantel.  Along the edge of the mantel, I used some Command Small Refill Strips (didn't I tell you these were the best things ever?) to hang the Plastic Canvas shamrock table runner that I made last year.

Leprechaun Hat on St Patricks Day mantel
My Dollar Tree leprechaun hat and gold sparkle candle stick on are one side of the mantel

Green Jelly Bellys as Decorations
while Green Jelly Bellies and the other candle stick are on the other side.

Irish Blessing Printable
Above my mantel is my monthly frame.  I found this Irish blessing at The Daily Quotes.com.  I blew it up at Walgreens when they have their 40% off poster sale and put it in my rotating frame.

I do like how the St Patricks Day Mantel turned out.  I will need to get a few more decorations for next year, which unfortunately (evil grin) means I need to go shopping tomorrow for clearance decorations.  Oh the problems of a wanna-be decorator.

In the meantime, go check out my St Patricks Day pinterest board for lots of fun and green ideas.  And be sure to download my free Leprechaun Poop candy topper printable for a great laugh with the kids!

Finding Joy in the Crazy Printable and Shindig Saturday

As moms we have plenty of crazy moments.

Moments when we walk in to find our kids "helping" us by making breakfast.  Moments when we find little "Masterpieces" all over the walls.  Moments when we wonder why our lives aren't like the perfect "Cosby Show" reruns.

This mom thing is HARD!

Thursday night, I was able to go see a special VIP screening of the new show Moms Night Out (coming out May 9.)

The movie is a hilarous comedy about a group of moms who need a Moms Night Out.  They plan to go out to dinner and just enjoy a night away from the kids.  What could go wrong?

As you can imagine---EVERYTHING.

Not only was the movie a great night out, it had a wonderful message about finding the joy in our chaos.

At first the God centered message in the movie caught me a little by surprise, but I loved that it was a wholesome comedy that had a great message for moms.  It's not something you see coming out of Hollywood very often and it's really too bad.

We certainly can use more movies that lift us up and make us feel good about our jobs as women and moms and remind us that God didn't make a mistake when He put us as the Moms to our kids.  He knew what He was doing.

And we can figure it out too.

Find out more about Moms Night Out by liking there facebook page here.  Definitely start planning now for a fun Moms Night Out on May 9th with your hubby or best sisters!

Dauntless Cake AKA Chocolate Cherry Truffle Cake

I've been thinking about this Dauntless cake ever since reading about it in the Divergent book.

What do you think it tastes like? Is it so yummy because they don't have many sweet things in their life?  Is it a pure chocolate cake? Why does cake batter taste so good before it's cooked? (Okay, maybe I'm getting off tangent here...)

February Reading List

Divergent Faction Table Cards

I love to have themed food when I throw a party.  There's just something extra fun about eating marshmallows designed as "Cheshire Cat Tales" or donuts named "Munchkin Holes."

So of course, our Divergent party needs to have there very own Divergent Faction Table card printables.

First Step Printable and Shindig Saturday

Life has been a little chaotic this week.

I decided last weekend after much fasting and prayer, to close my downtown store.  The decision comes with much sadness, but also with a lot of excitement.

It's been wonderful getting out of the house and meeting new people on a daily basis.  I have met many wonderful friends who I'll be sad to see move on, but I have missed my family and kids.  I'm excited to be able to go home and be with them all before Drama Queen graduates and they all get too big.

I'm not sure where the next road will take me, but I'm excited to take that first step.

I hope that it will give me more time to blog and plan some amazing parties.  I hope we'll be able to have more fun family dinners to share with you.  I hope the staircase will open up to lead me to a new dream.

I'm also hoping that things will work out that this Saturday Shindig will get a whole new look and feel as I partner up with Pam from Pam's Party and Practical Tips.  You guys will definitely love her blog and the addition of new friends at our weekly linky party will make things so much more fun.

Now on to the party...

Banana Bark Candy Recipe for Faction Eurdite

The Erudite faction is all about knowledge and learning, so I would imagine any treats they would bring to a Divergent Party would be considered brain food.

In an effort to make yummy brain food, I decided to make some dark chocolate banana bark candy.

You've probably already heard that it's DR. SEUSS's Birthday tomorrow, and that it's READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY today!  I love Dr Seuss books.  They are so much fun and for a while that is all that Mini Me would read, so we've read a bunch of them!
