I'm wrapping up my week of Superhero books with a fun way to save your spot when you are reading one of the great free books I showed you this week.

I just love magnetic bookmarks and the trend to find them in just about any shape and size.  They are so awesome in that they won't easily fall out of your book or get lost in the pages. The only downside I've been able to find is that I find them to be a little expensive for the small shape.  What's with that?

So I learned to make my own, and after finding some great superhero graphics, I knew they would be a great way for you to enjoy a set for your library too.  Plus, they would make great Christmas or Birthday gifts for any reader on your gift list.

Start by printing out the Superhero bookmark printable at the bottom of the page.  The graphics are from Oh My Fiesta! for Geeks and I laid them out so you can make a ton of magnetic bookmarks featuring your favorite superheroes.

Cut out each of the superheroes.

I like to leave a little bit of a space around the edge so the details within the clip art graphic aren't lost.  This also helps the limbs and hair pieces to be a little sturdier as you use the bookmark.

Line up the feet on one of the superheroes and fold them over so the pieces line up correctly.

Cut a little piece of magnetic tape into squares and place on the inside of the superhero near his or her feet.  Repeat with the other side of the superhero so the magnets line up and connect but are stuck to opposite insides of the hero.

To use the magnetic bookmark, fold it over the page you want to save and the magnets will lock together through the page to secure on to the book.

I think this Spider-Man bookmark is probably my favorite of all the printable bookmarks I'm sharing today.  Isn't he awesome how he is upside down and is hanging from his spiderweb?  He's almost ready to give Mary Jane or you a kiss while he's keeping your page safe.

To save this printable, right click on the picture above and save it to your computer.  Then use your computer's print program to print out the magnetic bookmarks.

Then enjoy having the Avengers and Superfriends help you to save your spot on your favorite book!

  1. These are adorable! I'm sad that my son has just outgrown superheroes. I'll have to look into making him some gamer ones! My niece will love Spiderman though. Thanks for sharing on Happiness is Homemade link party at LifeasaLEOWife.com. Hope to see you share on Crafty Creators as well!
