Tell mom how much you love her this Mother's Day with a jar full of chocolate hugs and kisses. With this free printable and DIY candy jar, mom will feel like the best mom ever with you as her kid.
I don't think we ever really appreciate our mom until we become parents ourselves. There's just no way to really convey the magnitude of love and fear and service and stress and wonder of a mom. So when it comes time to say thank you, what do you get the most amazing mom in the world?
How about hugs and kisses? or how about a jar full of hugs and kisses? Or best of all, a jar full of chocolate hugs and kisses!
I started by writing a poem for Mother's Day. I tried to keep it so you can give this jar to your mother, sister, friend, or any woman on mother's day....after all, we are all mothers whether we have kids or not.
Then I took a small canning jar and filled with an assortment of Hugs and Kisses candies. I got about 55 pieces of candy in my jar.
I printed out my poem. It needs to print at about 2 1/4 inches wide by 2 3/4 inches long or it won't fit on the small jar.
I cut it out and ran it through my Xyron with a Repositionable sticker cartridge.
The poem will now stick on the front of a canning jar. If you get one with writing on the sides, it's a little hard to stick. I like the Kerr brand since it only has writing on one side and you can put the sticker on the opposite and it goes on without a problem.
Next, I found some white shimmmery fabric and draw a circle on the back side. I used a large lid about 6 1/4 inches in diameter. It seems to work best for this size jar.
Cut out the fabric with a good pair of scissors. If you can't find yours after 3 moves in the past 12 months, then go ahead and kick and scream and then get a new pair, because it makes it so much easier and nicer with a good pair of sheers.
I then placed the fabric circle on top of the canning jar lid but under the ring and screwed the ring on. I took some pink ribbon and tied it with a bow around the top of the jar.
Lastly, I found these wooden hearts at Michaels back in the wood/paint area. I added the MOM in sharpie and glued it to the center of the bow.
Here's the printable for you to make the jar too...
