Get to know your friends with a fun activity where you'll Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. This easy and cute dessert table will be the perfect addition to your love of shoes and your love of your girlfriends.
We recently had another Girls Night Out activity where we wanted to get to know the new members in our group.
The idea was to bring a pair of shoes that told a story. You could bring a pair of shoes that told of a fun trip you had been on, or a pair of shoes that made you feel like you were "The Boss", or a pair of dancing shoes that helped you catch your significant other's eye.
This was the party invitation that we used. We found the idea on Pinterest and just tweaked it to our needs for the get together.
I chose to go with bright spring colors for our theme. So on each of the tables where the ladies sat, I used two different size fabric squares in different colors. I used Orange and White fabric centerpieces, Red and Blue fabric squares, Yellow and Green fabric squares, and Pink and Purple fabric centerpieces. I cut the squares into 12 inch and 18 inch pieces and finished the edges off with ribbon like I showed here.
On top of each of the fabric squares, I used these shoe quotes to create boxes made from tiles. I printed out each of the quotes and then used my xyron to sticker them to 6 inch ceramic tiles. Then, I glued 4 of the tiles into a square box shape and placed another plain tile on top to create a box. On top of each of the boxes, I placed a different pair of shoes.
Behind the dessert table, I used my trust PVC pipe backdrop base with a green piece of fabric hanging from it. Then, I strung several shoe cut outs along the backdrop to bring some whimsy to the dessert table. You can see how I made the hanging shoe party backdrop here.
I used a yellow tablecloth and blue table runner on the dessert table. As the dessert table centerpiece, I placed 2 plant stands in the center and placed different types of shoes on each. Then, I completed the arrangement with 4 inch tiles of a few of my favorite shoe quotes.
We let each of the ladies bring their favorite cookies, so I just placed out square plates (to match the square tiles) in the front of the dessert table. When the ladies arrived, we put the cookies on the plates.
As a final shout out to the cookies, I knew we had to have milk to drink. I mean, what's cookies without a tall glass of milk? So I filled my drink containers with milk and chocolate milk for the ladies to enjoy with their dessert cookies.
As the ladies came up and told the story behind their shoes, they would pick another pair of shoes at the end and then that lady would come up and tell her story. We had a wonderful time learning about all the new friends in our women's group and had a yummy shoe dessert table to enjoy while listening.
What kind of fun activities have you done to get to know your friends better?
