This past weekend was our church Christmas party.

It's not like we don't know Christmas is coming.  It's not like we don't know we will have a Church Christmas party.

So tell me why we always wait until the last minute to plan and put it together?

But I've come to the conclusion that my team and I work best when we are under pressure.  Our Church Christmas party was packed full of fun decorations, cute centerpieces, and yummy food and drinks to get everyone in the Christmas spirit.

Since the Christmas party is probably the most attended event every year, we pulled out every table we could find.  That gave us 12 round tables and 2 long tables to seat every at.

The round tables were decorated with red and green alternating table cloths.

For the centerpieces, we added a silver, round place mat from Walmart.  We found it in the kitchen aisle but you can also find it online here.  This added a little shine to our tables and set the centerpieces as spotlights on each table.

Fortunately, I am a huge collector of Gingerbread men and Advent calendars, so we scavenged all our Christmas decorations.  This allowed us to have a different gingerbread house or gingerbread couple on each table.

Our two long tables had red tablecloths and a holly and berry floral piece down the center.  We weaved in three small gingerbread decorations amidst the holly.

The smartest idea we had for our Christmas party was this Gingerbread House coloring page.  We copied the page off onto card stock and then placed one at every place setting.  We then added a package of coloring crayons to each table.

As the families came in and sat down, the kids (and adults) started coloring.  It kept the kids from running around the room and knocking into people and things while we were waiting for everything to start (as usually happens before church parties.)

The dinner for our Christmas party was pot luck.  We didn't do much to decorate those tables except for adding these cute Gingerbread tablecloths to three long tables placed end to end.

For drinks, we had a beverage station that served hot chocolate and festive punch.  The punch was Hawaiian Punch Fruit punch mixed with 7up in a one to one ratio.

We had one of our team sit at the table and fill drinks up so people could grab a drink as they went through the line and didn't plug the line up trying to fill their own.  It made for a much smoother food line.

The program consisted of the children singing a song and someone reading a Christmas story.  So we set up a area for that to happen.  We decorated the piano and brought in a chair from the over flow area.  The fireplace is one that was made years ago and comes out every Christmas.

To decorate the sound dampening squares on the wall, we decorated them up like windows.  We used a double row of white scallop like the decor used on bulletin boards on the top.  Then we placed black duct tape down the front and across.  The sides were decorated with decor that looked like candy canes.

Then we let the little ones on our team (our 3 year old niece) put gingerbread men and women all over the walls.

On one end of the gym, we placed a chalkboard with a gingerbread scene on it.  Then we found this gingerbread blow up and used this area as a photo booth for the kids and family.

The other end of the gym has curtains that form doors for the over flow area.  We decorated the outside of these with more of the gingerbread men and a white scallop over to look like gingerbread house icing.

When the party was almost over, we opened the door to this scene with Santa and Mrs Claus sitting in the chairs handing out candy canes to the kids.

It turned out to be a fun and simple party.  The decorations were pretty simple and only took us a few hours to turn out with our group of 6 party decorators.

I know your church party is probably past already, but be sure to pin this for next year or when you need a quick and simple party next Christmas.
