I Mustache You Not To Pinch Me T-Shirt

I know this is a little off topic, since I've moved on to Easter already, but I had to share with you this adorable t-shirt that Drama Queen received today.

You know that I like to kick off my new party themes with a little trip through the small business of Etsy.  I admit, this is usually a lot or Window Shopping and wishing when I do.  I don't buy too much.  But when I went looking for our St Patrick's day treasury, I found this wonderful t-shirt from Ashley at XOXOAsh.

Drama Queen has been into mustache's for about 2 years now and LOVES anything having to do with them.   So I HAD to buy it for her for St. Patrick's Day.  I was a little worried that we wouldn't get it in time for the holiday, but it came today before Drama Queen went to school.

She LOVES it! I don't know if you can tell from the grin on her face but she was ecstatic when she saw it.  She loved how soft it was and it fit perfectly.  I loved that the mustache had a design on it and wasn't just black fabric.  I was worried how that would look with the black of the t-shirt.  But it is so cute.

We both LOVE it and I will definitley be ordering from Ashley again.  I'm hoping I can talk her into a sweatshirt for Drama Queen's 18th birthday this fall.  Wouldn't that be awesome?

Jelly Bean Easter Party

Easter is so coming on the heels of St Patrick's day so quickly this year.  It was a struggle deciding whether to decorate for both holidays or to just pick one and go with it.  I ended up going with decorating for both, but I think if I'd had to choose, I would have gone with Easter.

I just love Easter.  I don't know if it's the colors or just all the candy.  But it's definitley one of my favorite holidays.  So I can't wait to kick off a sweet round of holiday decorations and sweets for the Easter holiday!

St Patrick's Day Napkin Holder Free Printable

I must officially be a grown up now.   I've started wanting things for my home that I have never had the desire for before.  A real baking Mixer... a china cabinet... a napkin holder.  Yea, I know, a napkin holder is probably a strange thing to all of a sudden start coveting, but if you have ever had dinner with my boys, napkins are an ESSENTIAL part of our meals.  We have a tendancy to get a little rowdy sometimes and there's often a piece of food flying across the table either by design or accident.

So I started looking around for napkin holders, but I had a hard time finding one that "fit" me.  I am thinking about changing my kitchen "theme" with the next move, so apples won't work anymore.  I didn't want anything breakable or expensive.  And as often as I dress my tables for different themes or holidays, I wanted a way to do that without buying a new napkin holder for each theme.

As I was walking through Dollar Tree this morning, I found this Napkin Holder in the kitchen area.
It had a two of the most important qualities I was looking for-- it was cheap and had possibilities.

I brought it home and started playing with designs.  I ended up with this fun St Patricks Day design.  It has a rainbow, a pot of gold, and a cute leprechaun.  What more can you ask for?

I printed it out with 2 to a page so that each picture measured 4 inches by 5 1/4 inches.
After looking at it printed out, this would make a super cute St Patrick's Day card for friends too!

I cut out around the sides and bottom of the picture, but left the blank white part above.  This allowed me to fold the picture in half to form a card shape.

Then, I taped the front and back of the picture together to form a pocket.

It slid securely right over the napkin holder's "arms".
Now I can use it for St Patrick's Day, but take off the printable and change it out for Easter or any other holiday.  I can also keep the printable, or just throw it away and go with a new design next year!

I'm super excited about how it turned out and the new possibilities with my napkin holder.  Maybe now, cleaning up after those boys will be a little more fun...okay, maybe not.

Here's the printable in case you want to try and make one too!

Shamrock Milkshake Whoopie Pie Cookies

March is Dear Hubby's favorite month of the year.  I'm pretty sure it's because it's the time of year that McDonalds puts out their Shamrock Milkshakes.  He's pretty much obsessed with the shakes.

This week he goes away for a week of training and I'm convinced he's going to spend the whole week with a milkshake attached to his hand.  So before he left, it was fun to give him a little suprise last night for dessert with these Shamrock Milkshake Whoopie Pie Cookies.  Maybe now he'll miss us almost as much as his shakes in April.

I found the cupcake recipe at Better Homes and Garden's website and adapted it to my new Babycakes Whoopie Pie Maker for some fun frosting filled cookies.

They were not that difficult to make, but did take what seemed like a hundred bowls to whip up.  Yikes, talk about lots of dishes now...but Dear Hubby loved them and it was so worth it.

To make them, separate 4 egg whites into a separate bowl and allow to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
In medium bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Combine buttermilk and mint.
I couldn't find buttermilk at my local stores, so if you can't either, you can add 1 cup of milk and 1 Tbsp vinegar together.  Allow to sit for ten minutes.

In large mixing bowl, beat shortening with an electric mixer for 30 seconds.  Gradually add sugar, about 1/4 cup at a time, beating on medium speed until light and fluffy.  Beat in vanilla.  Add egg whites, one a time.  Alternately, add flour and buttermilk to shortening mix.

Tint frosting green.
Using a Babycakes Whoopie Pie Maker, add 1 Tablespoon of batter to each cake well.  Cook for 2 minutes.

For frosting, place white chocolate in a large bowl.  In a small saucepan, heat whipping cream until simmering.  Pour over white chocolate, let stand, without stirring for 5 minutes.  Stir until smooth, let stand for 15 minutes.  Gradually beat butter into chocolate mix.  Gradually beat in powdered sugar.

Using one whoopie pie side, spread with white chocolate frosting.  Add another whoopie pie to top.
Enjoy!
