Now you can have a magical nap any time of the day with this Unicorn sleep mask made from plastic canvas. The free plastic canvas pattern is perfect for a fun gift for mom, a sick friend, or to treat yourself.
I love it! Don't you? Such a fun saying. But it has caused me to do a lot of thinking about unicorns lately.

I've also had the idea to try and make a sleep mask out of plastic canvas lately. We have a lot of late nights here, so it would be nice to have a fun sleep mask to help when the rare time comes that I get to take an afternoon nap.
So of course, these two ideas clashed in my head the other day, and I decided to make a Unicorn sleep mask plastic canvas pattern.
Because that's just how crazy ideas are born, right? You kind of look at them later and think "What was I thinking?" Well, now you know the roundabout, crazy thoughts that go through my head sometimes.
So I thought I would share this fun plastic canvas pattern with you today. Because that's just what friends do, right? Share their crazy?!
To make this fun sleep mask you will need:
- 1 sheet 7 count plastic canvas
- white yarn
- black yarn
- light and dark purple yarn
- square of felt
- 40 inches of purple ribbon
- sharp needle with a large eye
- small clamp
Start by using the plastic canvas pattern at the bottom of the page to cut out your sleep mask and unicorn horn from the 7 count plastic canvas sheet.
Sew the horn and mask using a simple continental stitch. Overcast the horn but not the mask.
Using the unicorn sleep mask as a pattern, trace out the mask on to a piece of felt. Cut out the felt.
I found it easiest to use a clamp to secure my felt to the back of the mask, and then use a sharp needle with a large eye hole (I like these) to overcast the edges of the mask. Be sure to catch the felt in the back so it secures the felt to the back of the Unicorn mask.
Once your overcast is done, cut out 2 pieces of 20 inch purple ribbon. Thread the ribbon through the side holes in the mask and use a glue gun to secure the ribbon to itself to hold the mask. Repeat for the other side.
Place a bit of glue along the bottom edge of the unicorn horn and secure it to the top, middle of the unicorn sleep mask.
Use the ribbon to tie the mask on to your face and enjoy a nice, long, magical nap!
It would be a magical day for that to happen, right?!
