Easily take store bought cupcakes and turn them into beautiful unicorn cupcakes perfect for your Unicorn party.
When I'm party planning, it's all about trying to use what's available and make it fit my party. I'm not one to reinvent the wheel and make my cakes and party treats from scratch. If you are...go you. I am impressed and in awe.
But me, I just don't have the energy to be a "from scratch" kinda girl.
So when I was planning my Unicorn party and thinking about cupcakes, I knew I needed to find a way to buy store bought cupcakes and make them fit my unicorn theme.
I found these unicorn cupcakes at Walmart in the bakery section. They are cotton candy flavored with a blue and green swirl and star sprinkles.
Then I found this beach themed chocolate mold at Hobby Lobby in the candy section for only $1.99. You can find it here on Amazon if you don't have a Hobby Lobby close.
Since I'm super simple, I only bought that mold and some bright pink chocolate wafers.
Start by melting your chocolate in the microwave in 1 minute increments at 50% power. (Be very careful with white chocolate. It scortches easily.) Stir in between melting until the chocolate wafers are smooth.
Pour into the long sea shell and star cavities. Refrigerate for 20 minutes until the chocolate pops out of the cavities easily.
Add the long sea shells into the center of your cupcake with the pointed end up so it looks like a unicorn horn. Add the stars in front of the horn.
Save and the unicorn cupcake wrapper below. Print it onto white card stock. Cut out around the edges. Add the unicorn cupcake wrappers to your cupcakes. You can either use the notch and hole system to close or you can use a piece of tape to secure the cupcake wrappers around your cupcake.
See how easy that was?
I count it as a win when the desserts don't cause me to sweat or work too hard but look super cute and make my dessert bar look amazing.
Be sure to pin the wrapper for later and tag me on social media @DIYPartyMom if you make them!
