I have been put in charge of the women's bulletin board at church. This is where we post birthdays and information for the month so all the ladies in our church will know what's going on during December. It was hard to figure out what I wanted to do each month to keep it fun and interesting.
In case anyone else has the same problem, I'm sharing what I did for the board and the printables in case you need to use the idea for your bulletin board.
I made a Christmas tree using a piece of green poster board. It was simple to cut it out and staple it in the center of the board. On the Christmas tree I made 6 different color ornaments with each birthday girl's name and birth date. On top of the tree is a star with "Happy Birthday written.
Each of the different signs contain the Sunday lessons so the ladies can read ahead, the sisters visiting message for the month, and any activities we have going on as a group. I placed these inside candy cane frames. This matches to the candy cane red and white striped ribbon border. (I found the ribbon at Sam's club last year.)
If you want the printables for the Ornaments, frames, and Christmas star, you can go to our Christmas Bulletin Board and download it for free. If you make something with these, let me know, I'd love to see your ideas!

Polar Express Etsy Gift Guide
The Polar Express is on the move with Christmas lights and holiday happenings starting around town. I absolutely love Christmas lights so I'm really excited that they are appearing. It really puts me in the holiday spirit and makes me want to throw a Polar Express train party to get the season on the right track.
With the shopping season in full swing now, I hope you'll consider shopping from the small businesses out there who really appreciate each and every purchase you make, unlike the big box stores. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking from the small businesses of Etsy.

10 Sweet Pumpkin Pie Treat Recipes
When I think back on Thanksgivings in the past, I remember events with too many people, too much food, and too much fun. One year I can clearly remember, we must have had almost 100 people in our house. We lived in military housing and my mother probably invited the whole neighborhood for dinner. We had tables set up in every room of the house with chairs crowded together so we were practically on each other's laps.. It was one of my favorite Thanksgivings of all.
While the holiday seems to be centered around enjoying the bountiful food that we have and the wonderful family and friends to be thankful for, I am glad it only comes once a year, because I have a secret. I don't like turkey. My husband loves it and ops for the biggest turkey he can buy at the store so he has plenty of leftovers, but I admit, I fill my plate with the mashed potatoes, corn, carrots, salads, and an itty-bitty piece of turkey SMOTHERED in gravy.
After all, why stuff yourself on the turkey when there's pumpkin pie to be had? I LOVE pumpkin pie. I keep telling myself that I should make one more often, but I never seem to. So when I found these Pumpkin Pie Treat recipes, I decided I needed to get moving and enjoy the pumpkin pie all the time.
Thanksgiving Party Etsy Shopping Guide
Halloween's over and here come the holidays.
Since I'm not doing my BIG craft show this year, I'm actually enjoying a little quiet time before the holiday rush. Drama Queen has her first real job working the Santa Express train in town and The Perfectionist is back doing the Christmas shows for his school encore group this year. I know it's going to get busy and this is just the lull before the storm, but I'm enjoying it after a crazy October.
Without family nor our big group of friends being near by, Thanksgiving has become a quiet affair here. It makes me sad, because Thanksgiving has always been a time for family and friends to get together with lots of laughter, games, and noise. But I have a lot to be grateful for this year and will enjoy the time with my family before we all get lost in the holiday shuffle.
Since I'm sure there are many families out there who are suffering from small incomes in this darn economy, I'm kicking off the holiday with a Thanksgiving shopping guide from the small businesses of Etsy. I hope you'll start your shopping with small businesses this year and support the families of America.
