We have a new addiction here at the KandyKreations household. We've started playing with Perler beads and have become obsessed over the fun possibilities and objects that we can make with them.
Right now, we have a perler bead Minecraft sword, a perler bead Batman keychain, and I'm working on a Perler bead Minecraft chess set for my husband. They are all super cool and we have so much fun building things together as a family.
Last night, we sat down for some family time and made some perler bead bow ties. My boys love to wear bow ties to church but they are so expensive! So we created some fun ones out of perler beads and now they can have one for every holiday and week of the year. As a bonus, I found that the way we were making them, they could double as a Hair bow for me!

The great thing about these beads is that the possibilities are endless on what you can make with them. There are so many patters on Pinterest that you can copy or change elements to make your own.
Here are two Snowman perler bead bow patterns that you can use for some fun family time tonight. Feel free to use them as is, or to change them around for some unique designs.

To make these fun bows, you'll need:
Perler Bead Peg Board (I highly recommend this one, since it's big and you can make so many awesome things without running out of room!)
Iron
Ironing Paper
E6000 Glue or Glue Gun
Start laying out your beads on the Perler Bead Peg Board. Like I said, you can use the pattern or make up your own. Creativity is half the fun with these beads.
Place your ironing paper over the top of your pattern and peg board and very carefully iron the beads together. You'll want to move in a circular motion as you iron to make sure you catch all the beads, especially the edge ones. I even found it best to turn the pattern in a clock wise direction and then iron, then turning and ironing again to make sure I got all the edges.
Once done, let your pattern cool for 30 seconds with the paper still on. Carefully flip the peg board over with the paper still on. Remove the pegboard and fold over your ironing paper to cover the bow pattern. Repeat and iron until both sides are secure. Let cool before removing the paper.
Once your bow is cool, add a alligator clip barrette to the back of the bow using E6000 glue or a hot glue gun. Make sure it's on their good and secure. Let dry.
By using this type of clip, you can clip it to the top of a dress shirt with buttons to give the bow tie look or you can clip it in hair to use as a hair bow. It's pretty versatile and won't put a hole in clothes.
As you can see, we really like our Snowman Perler Bead bows!
