Since moving to South Carolina, we haven't had a chance to throw many parties, so when Oriental Trading contacted me and offered to send me some items to decorate with, I was super excited!

We try and have a fun Halloween dinner party each year. That way when the kids go out trick or treating, they do so on a full stomach so they won't get sick if they sneak a piece of candy or two along the way.

We loved last years, Hocus Pocus themed party, but this year decided to go with something a little more sweet and crafty.  So we created a Candy Corn dinner party that was complete with crafts for the kids to create and help decorate.

The dinner party table was easy to make with all the fun craft projects that Oriental Trading has to offer.  We started by laying the table with a deep orange tablecloth to coordinate and enhance all the candy corn colors.

I tried to find a Candy Corn table runner everywhere, but didn't have any luck.  So I was super excited to see these Candy Corn Banner Craft Kits at Oriental Trading.  I love the different designs on each of the candy corn so that it really creates a pop of color and interest.  Plus, you put the banner together yourself so you can mix and match the designs to fit your creativity.

I liked to have a lot of different designs, so I had the kids decorate the candy corn pieces in random design mixes, but you can do them all the same to create a more uniform look if you like since there are twelve banner kits in each set.

Instead of stringing the banner kit up and hanging them on the wall, I lined the candy corn pieces up and laid them down the center of the table for a table runner.

On top of the candy corn pieces, I placed one of the Candy Corn Hanging Lanterns.  I plan to place the other two at the front door to welcome guests into the house and put them in the spirit.  I loved that the Lantern was so easy to set up and sat perfectly in the center of my table as the centerpiece.

On each side of the lantern, I placed one of the DIY Candy Corn Kissing Balls that I made.  These were also easy to make and you can see how I made them here.  To complete the center piece, I added some Candy Corn treat containers.  I filled each of the containers with Hershey Kisses decorated with the Candy Corn kiss character

Oriental Trading made the place settings super easy to create and match our theme.

I found these Candy Corn Prism Stickers in a large roll.  I just added a few to the outside bottom of each of the glasses to bring some sparkly candy corn fun to the tableware.  They were easy to put on, but be sure to take them off before washing the glasses at the end of the night.

I love to use clear, glass plates at my dinner parties because it makes it so simple to match the party theme by adding printable Plate Inserts.  But this time, I decided to use some Candy Corn Weaving Mats as a backdrop to my plates.

This gave the kids a chance to make another craft and feel invested in the party design.  Plus, they had super fun weaving the strips into the candy corn and creating this fun craft.  Ours didn't come out quite as full as the weaving mats in the pictures at Oriental Trading, so I'm not sure where we went wrong.  It was probably that we kept all the edge pieces on the backside of the craft so it looked "nicer."

We used the extra part of the strips to create napkin rings.  We took about 4 inches of the colored paper strips that come with the Weaving Mat and stuck it on the back of one of the prism stickers.  Then we created a loop and stuck the other end to the connect on the other side of the back of the sticker.  (I know, clear as mud right?)

Basically, we made a ring and used the Candy Corn Prism sticker to secure the ring together.  Then, to keep it from being sticky on the back side, we carefully placed another sticker on the back so the stickers were back to back with the ring connecting in the middle of the two stickers.

Then we slipped it on the napkin and added it to the center of the place setting.

The final piece was to add place settings out of the table cards that are also part of the Halloween Candy Corn printable party set.  I used the Candy Corn alphabet to add each guest's name to the card to turn it into a place setting card and then sat them in random order to keep the guests intereacting and having fun all evening.

Thanks to Oriental Trading, I was able to pull this Dinner party table setting off quickly and easily.  The kids LOVED that they were able to help create so many of the decorations, and now they can't wait for the dinner party to start!
