Easily decorate your superhero room with these Superhero printables and night light. Night light is the 3D FX Superman light and is so easy to put it up, you'll feel like a villian who cheated when decorating your child's bedroom.
(This post is a review of the Superman 3D Light FX from Target curtesy of the US Family Guide. All opinions and printables are my own and are shared with lots of love and help in mind.)
Last winter, we decorated our son's room in a Minecraft theme. He loved Minecraft and he loved his room. But six months later, we moved and had to take it all down.
Some of it came back up in his new room, but after he turned 12 this summer, he decided he was in love with Superman like his big brother. So he took down the Minecraft theme and has been begging me to find Superman room décor since.
He's a busy little boy who likes to wrestle, draw, play soccer, and read. So his room décor has to fit a lot of banging into walls and late nights reading under the covers. (Yes, even after mom and dad told him to stop a hundred times and go to sleep.)
When I was looking for ideas, I stumbled upon the Superman 3D Light FX at Target. It was perfect for his new Superhero themed room since it wasn't too childish and gave just enough light to find his book at night.
I wasn't a huge fan of the "breaking out of the wall" look that comes with the light, but he loves it. Plus, he sagely decided that if he breaks any of the rest of his walls, it will look like decoration too. (Not sure that completely flies with mom and dad, but his 12 year old logic can't quite be denied.)
Plus, it was super easy to set up. I had it on the wall and lighting the room within ten minutes or less.
The vinyl sticker came with a level line so that you could make sure the sticker and light were even on the wall. (There's not much worse than a crooked Superman symbol. We might have to assume that Batman knocked him around one too many times. That would not go over well in this Superman bedroom.)
Once you have the symbol level, it's easy to mark a line and then apply the vinyl background. I've not worked with vinyl that much (I know... I think I'm the only crafter in America who doesn't have a cutting machine yet), so it took me some serious rubbing on the back of the sticker with a ruler to make sure the Superman logo symbol was applied. Once it was, I just pulled the backing off slow and easy.
The vinyl sticker comes with Plus Signs on it, so you know exactly where to screw in your crews or push pins to hang the Superman night light quick and easy. I loved that part. There was no pushing in the pins and hanging the light, then undoing it to try again, then undoing that to fix it.
Once the Superman 3D light FX was up, I added two printables to each side of the night light to continue the superhero theme. The one on the left is a new Wall Décor Printable in my printables shop called I Am A Superhero that has the same theme as the We Do Geek free print, except that it talks about the different heroes and their abilities.
The printable on the right is a black printing of the Superhero rules print that I shared here on the blog a few years ago. It was originally for the young women of our ward when we did a Superhero party for their personal progress night but it works great for boys too.
I love how fun this Superman night light turned out. There are lots of other 3d Light FX designs if you are looking to decorate your child's room in a different superhero or with a Star Wars theme or Paw Patrol. I'm trying to talk Dear Hubby into letting me have the R2D2 one beside my bed (even though it doesn't go with the theme at all. Maybe I need to redecorate my room too....hmmmmm......)
