Decorate the front of your house with a set of Christmas lights and old Easter hunt eggs. You'll have a beautiful and cheap Easter decoration your family and neighbors will love!
I am so excited to have a new house to decorate this Easter. It's kind of fun when you get to try new things and decorate new spaces. But as I was going through my Easter decorations, I realized I didn't really have as many "WOW" factors as I'd like.
So I started looking at what I did have.
After years and years of Easter Egg hunts, I seem to have a lot of those cheap Easter eggs. I only needed to figure out something to do with them.
So I made fun and easy Easter Egg lights for the front of my house!
I absolutely love how they turned out and how they look at night. Even my new neighbor came over this morning and told me how much she loved looking out her window at night and enjoying the Egg lights.
And they were super easy and cheap to make.
I used some white mini Christmas lights and pastel colored Easter eggs. I bought some solar lights from Walmart that are much like these ALEKO® Solar Powered Christmas Lights String Lights*,to save on electricity, but you could use regular Christmas lights.
When you are done, slide one of the Easter eggs on to each mini light. Mine fit pretty snug and snapped right in, but you may have to adjust depending upon the type of mini light you are using.
I picked up a pack of these All-Purpose Christmas Light Holder Hooks for Gutters and Roofs* a few years ago on clearance after Christmas. They made it super easy to hang the Egg lights on my roof.
I love, love, love how they look and how cheap they are. It makes me want to come up with lights for the front of my house for every holiday! Do you think I can find some for "National Scrabble Day?"
Why wouldn't you just enlarge the hole that is already in the egg? They don't have to hang perfectly uniform unless that's the look you were going for ?
ReplyDeleteI made these and I drilled the hole as well. The reason was they are outside and the other holes works for drainage.
DeleteSo adorable! What a great idea. It would make me smile to look across the way and see these too. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. I’ll have to decorate my porch this weekend.
