Since the moment I started planning my Minion party, I have had these Minion chocolate covered oreos as an idea in the back of my head.  I love when an idea just comes to you like that, and then even better, when it actually works out and looks so amazing when done.

Despite how many crazy steps there are, they are really easy to make.  I just tried to detail everything so you wouldn't get lost if you tried to create your own Minion oreos.

Minion Chocolate covered oreo ingredients

To make these Minion chocolate covered oreos, you'll need:
Wilton Candy Eyeballs (3/4 inch size)
Wilton Yellow Candy Melts
Oreo Double Stuff Sandwich Cookie
1-Inch Circle Punch
Haribo Black Licorice Wheels

(Did I scare you with that list?  I  promise it's really not that hard!)

how to make a chocolate covered oreo

Start by melting your Wilton Yellow Candy Melts.  It's easiest to do this by pouring the melts into a microwave safe bowl.  Heat the melts on fifty percent power for two minutes.  Stir your chocolate and heat again at fifty percent power in one minute increments until the chocolate is melted.

Place a little spoonful of yellow melted chocolate into each cavity of your Chocolate Covered Oreo Cookie Mold.  Tap the mold onto the counter to smooth it out and release any air bubbles.  Add one Oreo Double Stuff Sandwich Cookie on to the top of the melted chocolate.  Add another small spoonful of chocolate on top of the cookie.  Tap the mold on the counter again to smooth out the chocolate on the top and allow it to go down into the sides of the cookie.  Keep tapping until any air bubbles have been released and the cookie bottom is smooth.

Repeat until all the cavities are filled.  Refrigerate your chocolate covered oreos for twenty minutes.

Once your oreos are firm, pop them out of the mold and allow to come to room temperature.  Now is a great time to take a butter knife and clean up the sides of any excess chocolate that may have run over the top of the mold when you were pouring them.

Open your White Sugar Sheet and remove the paper backing. Use a 1-Inch Circle Punch to cut out six one inch circles.  (Put the sugar sheet back into the sealed bag when done so any extra doesn't get hard.)   Place the circles with the shiny side down and spray them with the Wilton Silver Color Mist.  Set them aside until dry.

How to make minion eyes
Remove the Black Sugar Sheet from the package.  Peel off the paper backing.  Use a ruler to measure 1/2 inch from the edge of the sugar sheet.  Using a butter knife, mark along the edge of the sugar sheet.  Take a pair of scissors and cut the sugar sheet into 1/2 inch strips.  Now cut those 1/2 inch strips into 2 inch strips, so you have a 1/2 inch by 2 inch strip of black sugar.

Now that all your pieces are ready, it's time to assemble your Minion Chocolate Covered oreo.

Start by remelting your yellow chocolate melts so they are soft and easy to work with.  Add a little bit of melted chocolate to the back of the black sugar sheet strip.  Place the strip about 1/3 of the way from the top of your oreo.  Do the same with the back of the silver (white) sugar circle.  Place the circle in the center of the black sugar strip forming the Minion's eye.  Now do the same thing with the Candy Eyeballs to complete the Minion eye.

Haribou Black Licorice Wheel
Take one of your Haribo Black Licorice Wheels and cut off a small piece for the Minion's mouth.  Dip the back of your piece in a little bit of yellow chocolate and secure the mouth to your Minion below the eye piece.

Tadah!  You have your own army of Minions!  And see, it really wasn't that difficult to make these Minion Chocolate Covered Oreos now was it?
