Do you ever not want to take your holiday decorations down after the holiday because everything just seems so "blah" after words?

I love all the Christmas lights and pretty decorations, but taking them down brings the bleariness of January right front and center.  There's no more happy colors, no more bright lights, no more reason to sit and look at a dead tree in your living room.

Well, I sometimes feel the same way after Easter.  Especially when Easter is so early, like it was this year.

Taking down all those pretty spring decorations, just deflates my spirit.  It just leaves my front door green and ugly.

So I decided to take matters in my own hands and say "Heck with you Home Owner's association" and put a little bit of spring flowers on my front door.

And this DIY wreath was so stinking easy that I finished it in less than a half hour with the kids running around and while walking up hill in the snow both ways.

So easy!  And now I feel like a decorating boss who can do anything...so beware to my family for a spring explosion to celebrate Mother's day in my home!

When choosing your flowers, I found that the ones with bigger blooms that lay flat, were easier to work with.  I did get one arrangement that had a few bigger flowers that were longer, I did still manage to get them in the wreath, but they were harder to attach since they wanted to stick up way higher than the other flowers and throw the look of the wreath off.

Start your Mother's day wreath by taking the flower heads off the stems.  The bigger the wreath, the more flowers you will need.

Attach the flowers to your wreath by carefully pushing the bottom of the flower into the wreath form.  For most flowers the plastic part holding the flower together goes easily into the wreath and will stay there.  There will be a few that you may need to use the tip of a pen or pencil to make an indentation for the flower to attach.  I found this especially on the smaller flowers.

You can go ahead and attach all the flowers to the wreath by just pushing them into the foam wreath form if you want.  This will allow you to go back and move things around so the wreath is perfect.

Or you can add a little bit of glue to the bottom of the flower along the plastic part and secure the flowers in as you go.

Whether you do it after you have the wreath perfect or as you go, make sure you do glue the flowers down so they will stay if a big gust of wind hits, or if your boys are prone to slamming the door on their way out every morning in protest of having to go to school.

If you do have larger flowers that you want to include into the wreath, I found it was easiest to add a bunch of glue to the side of the flower and stem and glue it to the side of the wreath.  That made it so it couldn't be in the center part of the flowers on the wreath, but they laid flatter and looked like they belonged instead of sticking straight up above the other flowers.

One of the things I love most about this floral wreath is that you can make it for almost any holiday.  You can use red, white, and blue flowers for a patriotic wreath that you can hang between Memorial day and Labor day.  You can do it with orange, yellow, and purple flowers for Halloween.  Or red, pink, and white for Valentine's day.  The color combinations are endless and perfect to make you a decoration boss!
