With Easter this weekend, I'm scrambling trying to find some last minute basket stuffers for my kids.

It's both a good and bad thing.

My kids showed up last week and surprised me with all 4 of them being home.  It was wonderful.  I had forgotten how much I enjoy the crazy, loud, unpredictable dinners we have with all of them.

But when I tried to take my daughter back to the airport, her flight was cancelled.  They didn't even give her any options to rebook her flight for several days.

I love that I don't have to send her home now, but now I "get" to put together last minute Easter baskets.

My kids are super artistic, so anything that allows them to play together and make stuff is a big hit.

We like to have fun contests to see who can make the best "whatever" with their art.  I thought that would be a fun game to play with play dough on Easter afternoon.

So I ran to Dollar Tree and grabbed these cute items to make a last minute Dollar Tree Easter basket stuffer.

At Dollar Tree, I grabbed

  • Dudley's Shake-n-Egg Decorating Kit
  • Easter Bunny
  • Easter Cookie Cutters
  • Easter Ribbon
  • Easter Party Bags (Although I didn't end up using them for this project)

Instead of using food dye, I used the Easter Egg dye from the kit to color my play dough.  It ended up using the whole packet for the color and was a very pastel color.  I thought it was perfect for Easter, but if you like a stronger color, you may want to use regular food coloring.

After finishing the play dough, I decided to add a little bit of sparkle for Easter so I kneaded some glitter into the finished product.

I packaged the playdough into these super cute Easter Bunnies.

Then I put the bunny into the bags from the Easter Egg decorating kit.

I printed out some Easter tags (be sure to grab your printable below) and used the ribbon from Dollar Tree to tie two cookie cutters and the tag to the top of the Easter bag.

The bunnies turned out super cute and weren't hard to make at all.  So now I have one more Easter basket stuffer done and even a fun Easter activity for Sunday afternoon.

What kind of items do you put in your kids' Easter baskets?
