Clocker Cookies Inspired by Immortal Descendents
Enjoy some time traveling with spiral cookies inspired by the time travel book series Clocker Cookies. You'll enjoy some sweet, yummy cookies while enjoying a great book series.
I love to read time travel adventures. I'm not sure what the draw is, but I think it has something to do with that I love the adventure the characters have, the skills they need to figure out things, and the open options to go anywhere and take the story in any direction.
So I read a lot of time travel books. I recently devoured the four books in the Immortal Descendants series in a whole weekend. Now I'm anxiously awaiting the next book. While doing so, I decided to get my time travel fix by making some Clocker Cookies.

Seventeen-year-old tagger Saira Elian can handle anything … a mother who mysteriously disappears, a stranger who stalks her around London, and even the noble English grandmother who kicked Saira and her mother out of the family. But when an old graffiti tag in a Tube station transports Saira to the nineteenth century and she comes face-to-face with Jack the Ripper, she realizes she needs help after all.
Saira meets Archer, a charming student who helps her blend in as much as a tall, modern American teen can in Victorian England. He reveals the existence of the Immortals: Time, Nature, Fate, War, and Death, and explains to Saira that it is possible to move between centuries – if you are a Descendant of Time.
Saira finds unexpected friendships at a boarding school for Immortal Descendants and a complicated love with a young man from the past. But time is running out for her mother, and to save her, Saira must embrace her new identity as she hides from Archer a devastating secret about his future that may cost him his life.
Sounds pretty good, huh? It was!
In the book, Saira is a descendant of Time and is called a "Clocker". She travels through time using a spiral design drawn on walls. To celebrate the fun, I created a sugar cookie spiral with a candy center to enjoy.
I started with a basic sugar cookie dough. You can use your favorite, but my recipe was a simple mix of ingredients mixed together into a moist cookie dough. It took:
1 Egg
2 cups All Purpose Flour
1/2 cup Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1/2 cup Butter, softened
1 tsp Baking Powder
This recipe made 1 dozen cookies (depending upon the size.)
Roll the cookie dough into golf balls sized pieces. Take each ball and roll it into a long line like a snake. You will want the dough to be pretty thin so it doesn't spread very much when baking.
Place a piece of wax paper or aluminum foil on a baking sheet and place your cookie dough into a spiral shape with a about 1/2 inch between each spiral edge.
Using your favorite flavor of Jolly Rancher (I used Watermelon), place several unwrapped pieces in a sturdy zip top bag. Place a kitchen towel over the bag and take out your frustration of having to wait so long for the next book in the series on the bag with a rolling pin. Keep pounding until the Jolly Ranchers are in little pieces.
Spread the candy pieces in between the sugar cookie dough spiral edges. It took me about 20 pieces to do 12 sugar cookies.
Bake the cookies at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to thoroughly cool. Carefully peel the cookies off the wax paper to keep the candy center from sticking and cracking.
Enjoy your cookies as you go and re read the entire series to enjoy all the parts you may have missed while devouring the Immortal Descendants Series in one weekend.
3 Thanksgiving Pie Recipes and Dare to Share Saturday
Thanksgiving is coming. Are you ready?
If you are having a big Thanksgiving get together, you might want to consider having a fun photo booth. They are still so popular at parties and are a great way to get your guests to take pictures.
My friend and co-host Pam shared how she did her Cinderella Tower photo booth at her big Birthday bash. I love how she used regular boxes to make fun towers to match her party theme. It just goes to show you that you can use what you already have to make an amazing addition to your party.
I can't wait to see what you've been up to this week!
I sat down last night and started my shopping list. Does anyone else feel like this gets a little out of control every year?
It's only going to be us for Thanksgiving. No family or friends, so I don't feel like cooking crazy amounts of food just so my son can eat a roll and say he's done. But my Dear Hubby wants all his favorites from his mom's kitchen. Sigh.
I think I'll try and figure out how to cut all those recipes into thirds and then have a ton of desserts. That's my favorite part after all.
So if you missed it, be sure to check out these three Thanksgiving pie recipes from last week's Dare to Share Saturday.

3 Holiday Party Dip Recipes and Dare to Share Saturday
With the holidays, we seem to make more time to get together with friends and family. I'm not sure why we feel we can/should do this at Thanksgiving and Christmas time and not any other time of the year, but it seems to be the case.
I really think we need to start having big "Christmas" type parties all throughout the year. Wouldn't that be great? I know one of my New Year's Resolutions will be to start having our friends over for our themed dinner parties more often. I'm thinking once a month would be so much fun!
But since you're probably already starting to plan your Thanksgiving and Christmas parties, I know you're thinking about food and party games. If you missed it, our great friends here at the Dare to Share Saturday linky party shared some great Dip Recipes for your Holiday Parties.
You definitely need to check out these three recipes:
My in laws have been here all this week, so we are thinking of having a big send off on Saturday by inviting some of our friends over for a big Lasagna dinner party. I think I will definitely have to use one of these recipes while we are waiting for the finishing dinner touches. They all look so delicious.

3 Cool Summer Treats and Dare to Share Saturday
We've been in South Carolina a week now. And I can tell you one thing I've learned....IT'S HOT! It's a muggy hot. We haven't had to deal with that kind of weather since we left Indiana. I am thinking I may be in trouble since I'm already melting in this wet heat and the locals are telling me this is a mild summer so far.
So I'm super greateful that you guys shared some cool summer treats to help me cool off. If you missed any of them, be sure to check out these features from last week's Dare ot Share linky party.
I've been trying to stay out of the heat by hiding in my hotel room making free printables for you guys. I had to venture out a few times to take my son to the Challenger British Summer Camp this week, but my love of soccer helped me through that.
My friend and co-host Pam from Pam's Party and Practical Tips is full into her summer fun. They went to the Nature Center in her town. I've never been to one before, so I think this would be a fun way to spend a day if you can find one that's not too hot.
I know I'm going to have to find some fun things to do with the kids now that soccer camp is over. They are going stir crazy and I'm losing patience with the soccer juggling that's going on.
I can't wait to see what you've been up to this week!

3 Yummy Summer Beverages and Dare to Share Saturday

It's been a long week, but the weekends finally here! YEA!
I'm currently traveling to South Carolina to visit my new home and check out all the deets. I'm hoping this trip will calm my fears about the move and help me to encourage my kids to look forward to the new adventure we have coming.
For me, I just feel like I wish I could start drinking. I don't drink, so I'm glad you guys shared some yummy beverages for families and kids this summer. It'll keep me out of trouble and looking forward to the fun of the next few weeks.
If you missed it, check out these three summer beverages from last week's Dare to Share Saturday.
My co-host and friend Pam from Pam's Party and Practical Tips is up to some fun this week too. She shared a yummy looking Easy Bacon Chicken Alfredo Pasta. My boys love alfredo pasta, so I'm thinking we'll try adding a little bit of bacon to wake up the excitement next time!

5 Delicious Cake Recipes and Dare to Share Saturday
So sorry about last week's missed party. We had to cancel it last minute as my co-host Pam lost all her power and wasn't able to send the party link to me. Bummer, but since I was busy with emergency family issues (again), it happens.
I hope you guys had a great week even without parting with us. I also hope you were able to spend extra time checking out the great posts from the last Dare to Share linky party. I fell in "desire" with these 5 delicious cake recipes that were shared.
