Apple Crisp is the perfect fall dessert. Yummy, crisp apples baked with a sweet topping just screams fall treats. This Apple Crisp recipe is all the more fun when you have the dessert in a jar for single serve treats and fall gifts.
I love the sights, smells, and tastes of fall.
One of my favorite recipes this time of year is Apple Crisp. I love the tart taste of the apple, the sweet crispness of the topping, and the warm cinnamon flavor flowing throughout. Plus, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and you have the recipe for perfection.
But, there is a problem.
I have a tendency to eat the whole pan in one sitting. All. by. myself. (sigh.)
So I decided to make some apple crisp today and portion it out. This way, I'll only eat a little bit in a sitting, and maybe, I'll find someone to take a few of the cute dessert in a jar this apple crisp recipe turned out.
I used the small 4 ounce Jelly Canning Jar* to make these sweet apple crisp desserts, as well as:
1/4 cup Flour
1/4 cup Sugar
1/4 cup Water
2 Tbsp Butter
Cinnamon
1 Granny Smith Apple
Start by peeling your apple and cutting it into squares.
Fill your jars with apple chunks. (I got about 4 jars with one large apple.) You will want to fill them pretty full since the apples will bake down.
Add a little bit of water to each jar (roughly 1/4 of the jar filled.)
Add sugar, flour, and butter to a medium bowl. Carefully cut the butter into the flour and sugar mixture by smashing and mixing it with a fork or a Dough and Pastry Blender* .
Add the flour and sugar mixture to the top of each apple jar.
Place the jars on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
