December starts tomorrow and that's the start of our semi-annual 30 days of printables. I am so excited for all the fun Christmas projects, printables, crafts, and sweets that are going to be posted and shared around here.  But I found that I just couldn't wait for December to begin.

So today, I'm sharing another tradition here on the blog.  Back when we were living in the hotel for Christmas, I knew I needed to come up with a fun way for my kids to enjoy Christmas since we didn't have our regular Christmas traditions to enjoy.  So I created a fun Elf on the shelf printable with Elf Kisses.

I had no idea how popular our little elf printable would be and how he would start a tradition of a new treat every year.  The first year we shared Elf Kisses, the next year it was Elf Hugs, and this year I'm sharing my Elf Smiles candy bag topper.

These bag topper printables are all perfect for your Elf to bring to your kids to help them remember to be extra good this holiday season.

Our Elf Smiles read:

Santa's checking his list
For Christmas is in a little while
So remember to be good today
With the help of these sweet Elf smiles.

The bag topper printable is designed to fit several different styles and sizes of bags, so they should be perfect for any treat you may want.  There are bag toppers for a 3x4 inch bag, a sandwich sized bag topper, and tags that you can punch a hole in and add to any size bag you have around the house!

Go here to get your  Elf Smiles candy bag topper.

I debated about what kind of treat should be an Elf smile.  While I would love to be able to have the skill to create these Elf on the Shelf cookies  I am going to fill mine with Banana runts.  They look like a smile and my kids love them.

5 Christmas Printables and Dare to Share Saturday

Thanks for bearing with me last week.  It was a rough one, but I'm finally starting to get better.  Doc says I'll have to clots in my arm and leg for a few months as my body fights to dissolve them, but the pain is going away and I'm working to get back to normal.

And that means I need to catch up on all the things I'm behind on.  I am so behind on getting my Christmas projects done and ready.  Thank goodness you guys have me covered and had some great Christmas printables last week to help me get organized and prepared.

Pumpkin Bread Recipe

An easy and yummy pumpkin bread recipe that's perfect just out of the oven or the next day.
Pumpkin Bread Recipe by Kims Kandy Kreations
One of my favorite things about the holiday season is all the baking.  There's just something about the warmth of the oven heating up the kitchen and the smell of sweet treats wafting through the house.  Put on some Christmas music with the snow falling outside and you have a perfect day.

One of my favorite treats to make is Pumpkin Bread.  I don't make regular bread, so the smell of the pumpkin in the oven just makes me happy.  Then, a big slice of pumpkin bread with a smather of butter melting into the warm bread makes my tummy happy.

And as far as bread goes, it's a really simple recipe to make. After all, it would have to be, since I can make it!

Pumpkin Pie Bread Recipe Ingredients
Start with 1 pound of pumpkin (a 15 ounce can works great)
3 eggs,
2 3/4 cup of regular sugar.
Mix that in a large bowl until it's nice and smoothly blended.

Pumpkin Bread Directions

Add the remaining ingredients of
3 1/2 cups Flour
3/4 cup Vegetable Oil
1 tsp Baking Powder
4 Tbsp Pumpkin Pie Spice (we like to use this Pumpkin Pie Spice since this is such an expensive spice)
1 tsp Soda
1 tsp Vanilla
1 tsp Salt
1 cup chopped Walnuts (optional)

Pumpkin Bread Loaves
Once everything is mixed well, add to 2 bread loaf pans.  Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Pumpkin Bread
If you're patient, you can allow the bread to cool before you enjoy, but we never are.  We like it when the bread is warm and melts the butter into the bread.  The first loaf never seems to make it to the cooling stage, but we also like it just as well when we come back and enjoy the second loaf the next day.  It never seems to make it to the third day, so I'm not sure what it's like then!

Do you enjoy pumpkin bread?  What's your favorite treat to make at the holidays?  Here's the recipe if you want to try this!  You can find the Pumpkin Pie Recipe Printable Version here.

A Thanksgiving Tree

It is not unusual to see pictures of bare trees with thankful leaves being added throughout the month of November. Every year our Giving Tree looks a little different but we always make it a central part of our lives. What kind of tree do you have?
One of the things that makes our tree different (besides its size) is its not just about counting our blessings. Its also about showing our thanks through actions. The amount of activities vary since Thanksgiving is always on a different day but this year, it consists of 4 weeks of focused thanks.

Week 1: Acknowledging our Blessings

This is the easy part and lots of fun. Cut out lots of leaves, set outs some pens and pencils, and watch the tree fill up. Our tree is special with two types of leaves (oak and maple) and lots of colors. You could assign one color per person or a type of leaf per team if you want to have a little friendly competition. My kids usually claim a certain spot on the tree. I used to make the rule of no repeats but I stopped because why shouldn't they acknowledge that blessing just because someone else already did-it is important to each of them in a different way. I use cookie cutters for my leaf templates but if you need one, here are some great ones to use.

I had so much fun designing and using Octobers Journaling Cards that I knew I had to do it again for the month of November.  And it seems that you guys liked these cards too since it was one of my number one posts for the month.  I'm so glad to hear that!

Thanksgiving Printable Journaling Cards

For those of you who are doing the Listers Gotta List lists, these are set up to coordinate with the Reset Girl's November Lists.  I tried to leave them sort of vague for those of us who tweek the lists a little, or who go in different directions with the lists.

For those of you who haven't heard of the Listers Gotta List group, you should definitely check it out.  It's a challenge put on by the Reset Girl each month that gives you a daily prompt and you can list your thoughts when you don't have a lot of time to journal.

Fun photo journaling card printables

For those who use these journaling card printables for your scrapbooking or Project Life books, I tried to create a few fun themes among the cards as well.  There are some pictures journaling cards. Some Thanksgiving journaling cards.  And some cards with fun colors to match your spreads.

I've taken to using the cards in my planner to help me keep organized with my Pinterest pinning of each post I write.  It's worked so nice and makes my planner look so cordinated and fun for the holidays.

The ideas of these 3x4 inch cards are pretty endless.  What do you use them for?

This month I made them so you can download them as the whole set of JPG pages with 6 cards per page.  Or you can download the individual cards to imput into your favorite graphics program.  Which ever is easiest for you.
