I know we are blessed to live where we do.  I know it.  After all, I tried to find somewhere else several times and this is where God wanted us for some strange reason.  So I try to look at the good side of our neighborhood and this beautiful, huge house we have to live in.

But there is one thing about it that absolutely drives me NUTS.  And I haven't quite been able to figure out what do do about it until now.

You see, we have this door.  It's our front door and it has glass.  Now sure, there is a bit of a bevel look to it, but I hate how you can see into our house from the street, especially at night when we are all hanging out in the living room.  You can see right into the room.  Ugh.

I finally figured out what to do with it...at least through Halloween.

I decided to use the fact that I have light shining through the window and make Monster eyes as Halloween door decorations.  At night the light shines through the eyes making them glow.  Since the beveled glass kind of distorts the light a little, it makes it even more creepy and perfect for Halloween.

It was super simple to make this too.

I went to Dollar Tree and bought a bunch of black poster board.  I do recommend getting it from Dollar Tree too, since my Walmart had the same poster board for 0.30 more per piece than Dollar Tree.  (But I do recommend checking it out yourself if you want.)

I then used some different sized bowls, cups, my ruler and my free hand non-drawing skills to draw different eyes all over the poster board.

Now, trust me you can do this without any problem.  I can't draw worth beans, but I did manage to get some spooky eyes.  If you use a pencil to trace out the design before you cut, then you can easily erase or keep going without a problem.  The pencil barely shows on the black poster board so it works great for messing up.

Then use a sharp X-ACTO Knife*  to cut out the eye shapes.  Be sure to use a cutting mat* below so you don't scratch your table because I had to push pretty hard to get through the poster board with my knife and you don't want to mess up your good table.

Then I used some Glue Dots*  to hang the poster board onto my door.  You'll have to measure your door, but mine was the perfect size (minus and inch of poster board) to fit 2 1/2 poster boards.

Now I have the perfect answer to no one seeing into my house and instead viewing the super easy Halloween monster eyes door decorations.

Since I still had a few sheets of poster board left, I decided to decorate my son's front window while I was at it.

I googled some monster silhouettes and just free handed these (and remember I can't draw so it was pretty easy to do with the shapes I chose.  There was no way I could do a skeleton or anything like that.)  Although my spider turned out more like a radioactive mutant bird according to Mini Me, I think they turned out pretty cool and I'm excited to have my front windows all decorated in a fun and easy way.

Here are the products I used when making these Halloween Monster eyes door decorations and window decorations in case you want to give it a go.
