DIY Party Mom: Plastic Canvas Crayon Box Vase Cover Free Pattern

Go back to school in style with this easy crayon box plastic canvas vase. This free pattern can be stitched up by even the beginner and decorate your home or classroom.

I met my husband when I was twelve years old. He started trying to sway me to his opinion that we should be dating very soon after that. Being twelve, I naturally resisted.

For years, he did little things to keep himself in my thoughts. I would come out of church and find flowers on the seat of my car. It was really pretty cool.

When we finally got together YEARS later, we were newlyweds and I told him to save the money and stop buying me flowers. We still can't afford it twenty years later but sometimes I kick myself and just buy myself flowers.

So when I do go to the work to have flowers in the house, I want to make the most of them. I decided to make a plastic canvas vase cover to tie the flowers into my Back to School theme and be able to write them off as a "business expense." (smart, huh?!)

There's not much more that screams back to school than a crayon box at my house. So of course my vase cover needed to have crayons on it. This makes it pretty versatile in stitching since you can go with whatever colors you want to match your color scheme. I went with variations of the basic red, blue, yellow, and green. But you can use whatever you like.

The vase cover is pretty easy to make. Simply use the pattern below and cut the design out of 7 count plastic canvas. Using a basic continental stitch (half of an x), sew the black yarn design first. This makes it super easy to simply fill in the rest of the crayon color while watching TV and not thinking too hard.

When the design is all stitched together, overcast the edges and stitch along the long edge of the crayon to create a tube. Simply slide the vase cover over your vase and enjoy your flowers. Easy Peasy!
