Have you seen those pictures around the Internet of the houses with the skeletons climbing the walls trying to get in?  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them and have been wanting to do that to our house for years now.

But have you also looked to see how much pose able skeletons are?  Let's just say they are a little out of my Halloween decoration budget.

But when I ran across some of the glow in the dark Skeletons from Dollar Tree, I knew that I could finally afford my dream decorations.

But how to make those inflexible skeletons climb the outside of my house?

Fortunately, it only takes a few items, also from Dollar Tree and I was all set.  If you want to try this too, and have these little Pygmy Skeletons attack your house from Halloween, it's really rather quick and easy to DIY.

Halloween Climbing Skeleton DIY Ingredients

Start by grabbing a few of the Glow in the Dark Skeletons from the Halloween area at Dollar Tree.  It's up to you how infested you want your house, so go to town as much as you want.  Then head back to the car and tool aisle and grab a three pack of wire.  If you don't already have them at home, grab a pair of scissors and a large needle.  (You'll want a big head on the needle so it will make threading easier.  I used a plastic canvas needle.)

Decide how you want your skeleton to look climbing up the wall.  It's a good idea to have an idea of where and how you want him so that you aren't cutting all his joints and rewiring them.   I wanted this skeleton to look like he was pulling himself up the window sill so I only needed his arms and wrists to bend.

Once you know what you want, cut the arm or leg off at the joint.

How to Make Climbing Skeletons

Poke a hole in your joints that goes all the way through the skeleton.  Do the same in all the joints that you just cut.

Cut a small piece of wire (maybe 2 inches long) and thread it through the holes, placing the joints so they line up.  Twist the wire to secure the joints together.

Mold your skeleton into the shape that you want him climbing in.  The wire can be twisted tighter to make sure you get the hold you want.  If you want, clip off and hide any extra wire on the skeleton.

How to Make Skeletons Climb Your House

Hang your skeleton where you want him to climb on your house.  Make sure you have him bent so it looks like he's climbing up the house trying to attack.

If you have siding, this is easy.  There are holes on the bottom of the siding that you can thread a piece of wire through.  Attach one end of the wire around your skeleton and the other through the hole and bend it to secure in place.  (If you don't have siding, I'm not sure how to help you there.  Just Google it. I'm sure the answers out there.)

These are so cool climbing up the outside of your house.  And what's extra neat is they are glow in the dark, so they are fun at night too.
