3 Halloween Printables and Dare to Share Saturday

Dear Hubby went out of town this week with work and I ended up getting so busy with being Mom--Mom taxi, Mom chef, Mom entertainer, Mom everything that I ended up taking the week of this week as far as blogging goes.

So I don't have a whole lot to show you this week if you look back over the posts, but I did have a lot of fun and activity with my boys...and that's what I hope all the ideas that I share each week helps us to do-- spend more time with our families in fun ways.

If you saw me on Instagram, the boys and I went rollerskating this week. It's been years since I went and it took me a long time to get my "sea legs" under me, but when I did, we had a blast.  I know we are definitely going to go again (plus, it was great exercise which is definitely something I'm trying to do more of now that the heat is breaking a little.)

I did manage to get my Fall decorations up this week while the boys were at school.  I love how they turned out! I took the flower arrangements, fall leaf lights, and made a fabric pennant banner to decorate my mantel and TV area.  I just need to go get some fall wax melts to complete my transformation to fall.

I can see that you guys are starting to get in the fall mood too.  If you missed it, go and check out these 3 Halloween printables shared at last week's Dare to Share Saturday.

When I made my Fall Floral Arrangements (see the beautiful wall décor above?), I knew I wanted to create some lights and pennant banners to tie the arrangements together along the wall at our Fall Festival party next month.  (Yes, I'm getting a jump on them early this year! Go me!)

Plus, don't you just love lights?  And fall leaves?  And fall colors?

So of course, we needed to add some fall lights to our decorations.  And of course, they needed to be cheap and easy since we are planning to make a bunch of them to add to our Fall Festival party at church this year.

Bring the color of fall into your home with these beautiful fall leaf garland lights.  You can easily make these yourself in just a few minutes and have a lighted fall leaf decoration to celebrate with at Halloween or Thanksgiving this year.

These Leaf lights fit the bill beautifully.  And they look so amazing over my door while I wait to take them to the party next month.

To make these lights for your door or fall wall décor, you'll need:
Beautiful Fall Leaves
If you were lucky enough to find a bag of fall leaves, like those here, you can skip this step.  But if you had to buy a floral arrangement to get your leaves, then you'll need to cut your leaves off the stems at the base of the leaf.

Create your own Lighted Fall Leaf Lights

Add a tiny bit of hot glue to the top of your light and quickly place the top of the fall leaf on the glue.  Allow to dry securely.

I admit I was worried about the glue gun, the leaves, and the heat of the lights, but so far everything has been working perfectly and there has been no troubles.  But be sure to use with caution and at your own risk.

3 Fun Family Party Ideas and Dare to Share Saturday

Wow.  I'm glad that was a short week because I am ready for the weekend!

Dear Hubby and I have been married for almost 22 years now and in that time, I can count the number of times that we've had the house to ourselves on NO hands.  It's never happened.  The kids have always been around and while I love that, I look forward to a few quite moments when it's just the hubby and I.

We try and make it Date night at least every other week.  It doesn't always happen, especially during sport's seasons, but I think it's super important to put alone time with your spouse on your to do list as often as possible.

But this weekend our two youngest are headed to go camping with their Scout Troup.  I never though this day would happen, but Dear Hubby and I have the house to ourselves tonight.  We can go out and not worry that the kids will kill each other while we are gone or that we'll get that dreaded "I'm hurt" call (yes, it has happened.  I never did see the end of Batman thanks to 12 stitches.)

So tonight we'll be partying it up and having a good time just the two of us.  I just need to figure out what we are going to do.  I want to make it special since we won't be on a time crunch, so I've been scouring the town trying to find something fun to do.

Or maybe we'll just stay in and play some games or Netflix and Chill.  I'm tempted to purchase this Ultimate Intimacy Pack from the Dating Divas.  I love their date night ideas and think it would be fun to try this.

I hope you get to enjoy the weekend too!  If you are looking for some fun family time, check out these 3 great party ideas from last week's Dare to Share Saturday.

Beautiful and Easy Fall Floral Wall Arrangment for your Fall Decor

Wow.  I am so in LOVE with these fall floral arrangements.  They will be perfect for my fall festival wall decorations at our Halloween party...and they were so easy and cheap to make.  I'm going to make them for every room in my house!
Wow.  I am so in LOVE with these fall floral arrangements.  They will be perfect for my fall festival wall decorations at our Halloween party...and they were so easy and cheap to make.  I'm going to make them for every room in my house!

I showed you earlier this week some of the ideas I gathered for fall wreaths for our church's fall festival.  Even with keeping them simple and cheap, I decided I needed to have some other decorations on the walls.

So I decided to try and go with fall flower arrangements.

If I do a wreath, and then further down the wall, a fall flower arrangement, and then another wreath, and then another fall floral arrangement, I think I can get some of the pretty fall decorations and theme that I'm working for without too much expense.

Wow.  I am so in LOVE with these fall floral arrangements.  They will be perfect for my fall festival wall decorations at our Halloween party...and they were so easy and cheap to make.  I'm going to make them for every room in my house!

Especially if I add some pennant banners and lights to tie the wreaths and arrangements together.  (More on that next week so stay tunedt!)

But I did want to show you how beautiful and easy these floral arrangements were to make.  I am in LOVE!  I think I've decided I'm going to make some to frame my bed and match my Fairy Tale décor in my bedroom next.  It will certainly add some beauty to the Thomas Kinkade Disney pictures that I have in  there now.

But for the fall festival, these floral arrangements will be perfect, especially since Hobby Lobby has their floral décor 40% off this week.

Ingredients to make a Fall Floral Wall Arrangment

To make your fall floral wall decoration, you'll need:
  • Fall floral arrangement (I got mine for $5.00 at Walmart)
  • Ribbon
  • 8 1/2 x 11 inch Colored card stock
  • Glue gun and glue or strong tape
  • Wire cutters
  • Scissors or Paper Trimmer
How to make a Paper Vase

Start by marking the back of your card stock into halves. You'll need to know where the middle of the paper is on each of the sides of the paper.  I drew a big + sign on the back to make it easy.

Cut off the corner of the bottom of your paper by lining up your paper at the horizontal cross mark on the side of the page and the vertical cross mark on the bottom of the page.

Paper Crafting to make a Floral Wall VAse

Using your center line, fold the edges into the center (much like you would for a paper airplane.)  The center pieces will touch.

Add a bunch of glue to one side of the back of your card stock and lay the other side over on top so the back two edges (the colored side shown in the picture above) lay on top of each other.

Turn the paper vase over and use a pencil or something to push the glue together and help it seal.

Bows make everything more beautiful, even this paper Vase

Using matching ribbon, tie a bow and glue it to the top front of your paper vase.

How to cut Floral Arrangments

You will want to check on the size of yours, but all my floral arrangements were too tall for the vase that I created, so I used a wire cutter to cut off the bottom edge of the arrangement.  Since I have no skill in floral arranging, I kept the upper part of the arrangement together.

Simply slide the arrangement down inside the vase and enjoy.

Beatiful Wall Floral Arrangements for Fall Decor

To hang my floral arrangement vases, I took out the flowers and stuck a sturdy thumb tack into the backside of the vase into the wall.  Then I added the flowers back in and the weight hung without a problem.

Beatiful Wall Floral Arrangements for Fall Decor

I admit that I am super excited with how beautiful these arrangements turned out and how easy they were to make.  The hardest part was cutting the end of the floral arrangement off and it took me a total of 5 minutes to make each one.

I think they will be perfect for the walls at our Fall Festival!  (And in my bedroom!)
