The Inkeeper: Christmas Nativity Advent Gift Day 6

Celebrate Christmas with this Nativity Advent Calendar Gift.  Day six brings the Innkeeper and his story of forgiveness and the truth of letting Christ into your life.  Print this Hershey mini printable and give a sweet treat this Christmas day.

Have you ever seen Michael McLean's story of the Forgotten Carols*?  If you haven't, and ever get the chance to, I HIGHLY recommend it.  The play came to Colorado Springs last Christmas and we were given tickets as a Christmas present to take the family to see it.

Wow.

It's the story of a nurse, Connie Sue, who hates Christmas.  She is tasked to work the holiday taking care of an eccentric old man whose family is away for the holidays.  Each day as she helps John, he decorates his Christmas tree and tells her the Christmas story using music and ornaments.

One of the day's ornaments tells the story of the Innkeeper who turned Mary and Joseph away, but let them stay in his stable instead.

I had never thought of how that man must have felt.  I had never wondered if he knew what had happened that miraculous night.  But the Forgotten Carols tells his (possible) story.

I wonder if the Innkeeper would have told us today to "let Him in".  To let the Christ give His forgiveness for all the times we turn away and would rather do the fun, profitable things of the world.

For day six of my Christmas Nativity Advent neighbor gift, I am sharing my own poem of the Innkeeper.

It reads: 

I didn't have room in my Inn that night

Instead a room in my manger He found

Let Him in to touch your heart

As we rejoice in His forgiveness unbound.

For the candy, I thought about making chocolate keys, but decided to go with something easier.  So I chose to make Hershey miniature wrappers for the Innkeeper to give.

There are four mini candy bar wrappers designs for a total of twelve wrappers.

Simply save, print, and cut out the wrappers.

Lay each of the wrappers onto the Hershey miniature with the design covering the front of the candy bar.  Wrap the printable around the back and glue or tape in place.

Simply print out the wise man Christmas tag above, or you can find the whole set  for the 12 days here.

Add the Innkeeper's Hershey miniatures to a Christmas gift bag like you did for the other days, and tie the tag onto the bag using some pretty Christmas ribbon.

Now give your bag of candy to your neighbors, class, or friend to help them draw closer to Christ this Christmas.
