LDS Priesthood Bingo Review Activity

There has been a lot of talk about Mormons and the priesthood lately.  I'm not sure why the media finds these matters so thrilling and scandalous, but I suppose that's the state of our world right now.  Personally, I can't understand it at all.  God has answered the debate on Priesthood and therefore the debate is over.  Period.  I personally don't want to stand before my Heavenly Father when this life is over and explain to him why I was right and He was wrong.

All these matters aside, I find it interesting that members of the LDS Church have had so many lessons on Priesthood in all of our classes for the past year or more.  I think God was trying to prepare us for the debate that He knew was coming and shore us up with the knowledge of His will.

While I am visiting family in Texas, my mother was assigned to teach another lesson on the Priesthood.  After so many lessons lately, it's hard to come up with a new way to teach these principles that wouldn't sound like the same old same old.  So together we came up with a Priesthood Bingo Review Activity for the class to play.

I created 30 different bingo cards with 24 Priesthood review words.  As the teacher drew out one of each of the tabs, she asked the question pertaining to the word.  We talked about the answer and how it pertained to us today.  (I included links on each of the words so you can find out more information if you wish to try this activity with your own class.)

Since everyone had all the words on the cards, we used Starburst candies to mark the word on the Priesthood Bingo card.  We played until someone won bingo.  Then the cards were all cleared, the tabs put back into the pot, and we played again.  As we drew out the same words we had already talked about, we didn't talk about them again, just marked them on our cards and moved on to the next word that we drew.

We played until we had talked about all 24 words and time for class was up.  I think the class really loved the novelty of the review as we had a lot of fun and still learned/ relearned some great principles that we all need to keep us on the straight and narrow path while the media and the world try to pull us off.

If you want to play this with your class or as a youth activity, I am sharing the bingo cards with you here.  And here are the words with links to more information from the LDS.org website.

“The Priesthood of the Son of God is...the law by which the worlds are, were, and will continue forever and ever. It is that system which brings worlds into existence and peoples them, gives them revolutions---their days, weeks, months, years, their seasons and times and by which they...go into a higher state if existence.”

Quote by Sheri Dew-----"My young sisters, some will try to persuade you that because you are not ordained to the priesthood you have been shortchanged. They are simply wrong, and they do not understand the gospel of Jesus Christ. The blessings of the priesthood are available to every righteous man and woman. We may all receive the Holy Ghost, obtain personal revelation, and be endowed in the temple, from which we emerge “armed” with power. 12The power of the priesthood heals, protects, and inoculates all of the righteous against the powers of darkness. Most significantly, the fulness of the priesthood contained in the highest ordinances of the house of the Lord can only be received by a man and woman together."

Mustache Bingo Game

What's a party without a roudy game of bingo with the family?

This game was a lot harder to put together than I thought it would be.  I couldn't find a bunch of different mustaches to use as clip art.  I finally found a really cute set from a graphic artist on etsy.  I was able to use that set to make the game in three different colors.

When playing you not only have to find the matching mustache, but you need to find it in the right color to be able to make bingo.  You could have a handlebar mustache, but need to make sure you have it in the right color, black, blue or green.

I am excited about the game and the chance to play it at Drama Queen's graduation party next week.  If you would like to play it, you can find it in our online store here.

2012 Year in Review Bingo Game Printable

With the end of the year, we find ourselves looking back at the highlights and low lights of 2012.  After taking a hard look, I noticed there was a lot of bad news that went on this year.  It was a little depressing, but I made a New Year's Eve Bingo game to share with you.  I tried to not have a whole lot of bad, so there are some strange news events in it.

Such as Wendy's becoming the 2nd largest hamburger food chain, The Lion King edging out Phantom of the Opera as the #1 Best Selling Broadway Show, and Gmail becoming the most popular free email service.

There are also sad things such as the demise of Hostess, Whitney Houston's death, and Representative Gifford stepping down from Congress.

I've included 10 sheets of 2 bingo cards, for a total of 20 cards.  Hopefully, that's enough for your New Year's group.  Plus, there are 4 sheets of 12 bingo tabs for a total of 48 news events.

Simply download the bingo game, unzip the file, and print onto cardstock for a fun way to review the year.  You can go to our 2012 New Years bingo game to print free!

New Years Eve Bingo Free Printable

New Years Eve has never been my favorite holiday.
I really don't enjoy staying up late and standing around at parties trying to make small talk.  It's just not my thing.  I'd much rather be with close friends and call it a night early. (I know MAJOR party pooper here.)
Since we don't have any close friends yet, we are going to spend a quiet New Years Eve at home with the kids.  To try and make it a little more exciting for them, I have created a Bingo game based on important, fun, sad, big, and little events from 2011.  This will let us have fun while celebrating and remembering the year as we say goodbye.
I have been working on this Bingo idea for almost 2 weeks now, but have had major difficulties in getting it finished.  I just can't seem to get much done when the kids are home.  They are too excited to finally be in a house again and have all their stuff.  It seems that "my stuff" keeps getting lost under theirs.
Hopefully, this game isn't too late for you to enjoy at your New Years Eve celebration this weekend!

This download comes in a zip file for you to download and print immediately.  It contains 5 pages with 2 bingo cards on each for a total of 10 cards.  Also included are 3 pages of 20 popular top events of 2011.

These events include:
Osama Bin Laden's death, Google + Launched, Harry Potter films finish, Betty Ford dies, Japanese Tsunami, Terrorist attack in Norway, Charlie Sheen Rampage, Rep. Gifford shot, Royal Wedding, Casey Anthony not guilty, Steve Jobs dies, Deadly Tornado's, Iraq War Ends, Occupy Wall Street Movement, NASA retires Space Shuttles, US Debt rating lowered, Kardashian Wedding, Arab Spring, Kings Speech wins Best Picture, Green Bay Packers win Super Bowl
Super Committee Fails, Egyptian protests topple President, Japan's nuclear disaster, Penn State Scandal, US Government faces shutdown, Martin Luther King memorial dedicated, Royal Wedding hats, Ted Williams becomes a star, England's Newspaper phone tap scandal, Amy Winehouse dies, Hurricane Irene, Earthquake in New York, US hikers set free, Gay marriage legalized in New York, World didn't end, Race for the White House begins, Joplin MO tornado, Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother book published, Pontiff John Paul II beatified, US Loses World Cup in Shootout
Gaddafi Killed, Angry Birds explodes gaming market, Netflix Debacle, Water on Mars, Oprah Winfrey Show ends, Regis Philbin retires, Schwarznegger divorice, REM retires, Amanda Knox freed, St Louis Cardinals win World Series, Dallas Mavericks win NBA championship, Boston Bruins win Stanley Cup, 9/11 Memorial dedicated, Elizabeth Taylor dies, Indiana State fair stage collapse, Conrad Murray found guilty, Unemployment hits high, Greece debt crisis, Facebook gets facelift, Lady Antebellum's Need You Now wins Song of the Year

It was kind of hard to figure out 60 events that weren't all depressing since it was such a hard year for so very many in the world, but I hope there is enough of a mix of fun and serious events to make it a Bingo game worth remembering as you say goodbye to a year many want to forget.

50s Bingo Game Printable

Every good party needs a good game to enjoy.  You can't just sit around and eat all day...or at least that's what I keep telling myself.  (Even if I'm wrong, you'll need to agree with me here, or my waistline will never forgive me.)

So, in planning our 50s Sock Hop Birthday party, we came up with a need for a themed Bingo game.  (Everyone loves Bingo, right?)

After hours of searching graphics, designing bingo cards, and planning how to make this work, I found 50 graphics that had to do with the 1950s.  Then..I decided to share this Bingo party printable with you!

Go HERE to purchase($5.00) and download the entire printable set.

Once you've downloaded it, it's very simple to assemble and play.

There are 30 Bingo cards in 15 pages (2 to a page) and 50 graphic piece circles (25 on each page).  They come as a JPEG file for you to simply print out.

Once you print them out, you can cut the cards out.  The discs are 1.25 inch circles so if you're lucky enough to have that size hole punch, you can use that.  If you don't want to go any further, you can just play now.

If you want to make the Bingo piece graphic tabs last a little longer than one or two playings.  You can add them to wooden discs that you can pick up at any local craft store (I think even Walmart has them.)

Since there are 50 printable tags, I bought 2 big bags.  Then I spray painted them blue.  You can then use your Xyron or Modge Podge to put each graphic onto the wooden disc.

I'm not sure yet if I'm going to put the graphic tabs into a cute bag that I'll make, or just a bowl.  We'll see how creative I get.

In the meantime, just place the graphic discs into a container and draw them out.  Then, wait for a fun game of BINGO!
