I just finished reading a Teardrops of the Sea, one of the Mermaid books that I told you about.  It's put me in a mood to read more books about the sea.

Am I the only one that does that?  You read one book, and then have to read others in the same genre or nitch?

I started thinking about The Little Mermaid and the variations of the story that you could write.  Then I started thinking about fandom items, and got immersed in looking for some fun gift ideas for the holidays.

Enjoy reading some fun Mermaid tale's with these chocolate covered oreo cookies.  These chocolate cookies are decorated to look like the scales of a Mermaid tail to keep you in the mood while reading your favorite Mermaid books.
I'm wrapping up my week of Mermaid fandom with a fun chocolate oreo treat for you and your bookworm friends.

These chocolate covered oreos are decorated with fun jumbo sprinkles to resemble a Mermaid's tail.  With scales in all kinds of pretty colors, and tastes to delight, you'll be glad you have legs to get you moving to make these.

To make these Mermaid Tail oreos, you'll need:

Start by finding a Spinningleaf Chocolate Oreo mold from Amazon here.  You could dip the oreos on your own, but I love the way the mold makes the cookies look so crisp and professional.

Once you have your mold, pour your chocolate wafer melts into a medium microwave safe bowl.  Microwave on 50% power for 1 minute and 30 seconds.  Stir the chocolate to help release the heat and keep it from burning.  Return to microwave and cook for another 1 minute 30 seconds at 50% power.  Keep going until the chocolate is smooth and melted.

Using a spoon place a little bit of chocolate in the bottom of the Oreo mold.  You want to cover the bottom 1/3 of the cavity.  Carefully tap the mold against the countertop or table once done to even out the chocolate and release any air bubbles in the chocolate.

Place the oreos into the chocolate, pushing down slightly.  You want to push the oreo in  to allow the chocolate to move up the sides of the cookie.

Add a little bit more chocolate on top of the oreo and tap the mold to smooth the chocolate out.  Continue tapping to release any air bubbles in the sides.  The oreo may move up to the top of the mold, so feel free to push it back down a little to be sure of an even coating.

Put the oreo mold into the refrigerator for 30 minutes to harden.  The chocolate oreo should release easily with a twist of the mold when it is done.  If it doesn't release, put it back into the refrigerator for a few more minutes.

Separate your jumbo sprinkles into colors.  Taking one sprinkle at a time, add a little bit of warm, melted chocolate to the back top half of each sprinkle and lay on the top of your oreo cookie.  Repeat with more and lay them in a scale pattern all over the oreo.

Now as you read the Mermaid tales from this week's TBR recommendations, you'll have a sweet treat to enjoy and get you in the mood.
