Easy Superhero Room Decor
Easily decorate your superhero room with these Superhero printables and night light. Night light is the 3D FX Superman light and is so easy to put it up, you'll feel like a villian who cheated when decorating your child's bedroom.
(This post is a review of the Superman 3D Light FX from Target curtesy of the US Family Guide. All opinions and printables are my own and are shared with lots of love and help in mind.)
Last winter, we decorated our son's room in a Minecraft theme. He loved Minecraft and he loved his room. But six months later, we moved and had to take it all down.
Some of it came back up in his new room, but after he turned 12 this summer, he decided he was in love with Superman like his big brother. So he took down the Minecraft theme and has been begging me to find Superman room décor since.
He's a busy little boy who likes to wrestle, draw, play soccer, and read. So his room décor has to fit a lot of banging into walls and late nights reading under the covers. (Yes, even after mom and dad told him to stop a hundred times and go to sleep.)
When I was looking for ideas, I stumbled upon the Superman 3D Light FX at Target. It was perfect for his new Superhero themed room since it wasn't too childish and gave just enough light to find his book at night.
I wasn't a huge fan of the "breaking out of the wall" look that comes with the light, but he loves it. Plus, he sagely decided that if he breaks any of the rest of his walls, it will look like decoration too. (Not sure that completely flies with mom and dad, but his 12 year old logic can't quite be denied.)
Plus, it was super easy to set up. I had it on the wall and lighting the room within ten minutes or less.
The vinyl sticker came with a level line so that you could make sure the sticker and light were even on the wall. (There's not much worse than a crooked Superman symbol. We might have to assume that Batman knocked him around one too many times. That would not go over well in this Superman bedroom.)
Once you have the symbol level, it's easy to mark a line and then apply the vinyl background. I've not worked with vinyl that much (I know... I think I'm the only crafter in America who doesn't have a cutting machine yet), so it took me some serious rubbing on the back of the sticker with a ruler to make sure the Superman logo symbol was applied. Once it was, I just pulled the backing off slow and easy.
The vinyl sticker comes with Plus Signs on it, so you know exactly where to screw in your crews or push pins to hang the Superman night light quick and easy. I loved that part. There was no pushing in the pins and hanging the light, then undoing it to try again, then undoing that to fix it.
Once the Superman 3D light FX was up, I added two printables to each side of the night light to continue the superhero theme. The one on the left is a new Wall Décor Printable in my printables shop called I Am A Superhero that has the same theme as the We Do Geek free print, except that it talks about the different heroes and their abilities.
The printable on the right is a black printing of the Superhero rules print that I shared here on the blog a few years ago. It was originally for the young women of our ward when we did a Superhero party for their personal progress night but it works great for boys too.
I love how fun this Superman night light turned out. There are lots of other 3d Light FX designs if you are looking to decorate your child's room in a different superhero or with a Star Wars theme or Paw Patrol. I'm trying to talk Dear Hubby into letting me have the R2D2 one beside my bed (even though it doesn't go with the theme at all. Maybe I need to redecorate my room too....hmmmmm......)
Have Fun Storming The Castle with Free Journaling Cards
Give your kids a trip into the past this holiday season with a trip to the Medieval Times dinner and tournament. Your family will love stepping into Medieval Times with its delicious food, daring sword fights, and saving the princess. Check out our review of the Myrtle Beach Castle and discount ticket codes.
I was given free tickets for our family to visit Medieval Times through US Family Guide, but all opinions and experiences are my own.
Hoozah!
This Christmas my goal was to give my kids more memories and less junk. After 13 moves in 10 years, 2 floods, and a fire scare....we definitely don't need more junk. Instead, I wanted to give my kids fun memories to enjoy and look back on in years to come.
We've always wanted to go to Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament but have never lived close enough to actually go, so this Christmas, we were able to visit the castle and check that off our bucket list.
My boys and I loved every moment of our trip to Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament.
We wanted to enjoy the full experience in all ways, so we arrived at the castle in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina an hour and a half before the tournament began just as the doors opened. I'm so glad we did because we got a quick preview of the show as the King and the Princess arrived with their entourage. It really got us in the spirit and ready for some medieval fun.
As we came in the doors, we were assigned a knight to root for during the tournament by the color crown we were given. Then we took a group picture with the King or the Princess by the Royal Photographer. These were offered for sale later during the tournament if you want a fun memory to take home with you.
While we waited for the seating to begin, we got to wander around the outer courtyard that has all kinds of fun things to look at. My boys were enthralled by the real swords and knives that were on display to buy. If you had a little princess or prince, you could buy crowns and light up swords, but my boys were drooling over the Conan the Barbarian replica sword.
Once the doors were opened, we were seated in the Green Knight's section. The seating consists of long tables around a large arena where all the action takes place. Each of the place settings has a plate, soup bowl, and drink mug with the menu printed on the napkin so you knew what to expect for dinner and in what order. Notice that I didn't say there were any silverware since you'll be eating like they did in the medieval times--with your fingers. My boys LOVED that.
The Medieval Times people took a page out of my favorite party playbook and renamed all their foods with fun names like Dragon Blood soup as the serving wenches came around feeding you. It made things just a little more fun.
As the food was being served, the show began and we were introduced to all the knights and the story line of the castle. I loved that it wasn't just a bunch of fighting and showing off (although there was a lot of that much to my boys delight), but there was a little bit of a story weaved into the night's events.
We were able to see wonderful displays of horsemanship, falconry, and medieval knight skills. The horses train for years to be able to do the amazing tricks and feats that they showed with such ease. It was pretty cool to watch.
The knights did all types of fun shows of strength and skill as they participated in the tournament. After each contest, the Princess gave each knight several carnations to hand out to his supporters as we cheered him on. It was fun for the audience to feel like they were involved and rewarded for our loud cheering.
As the meal ended, we got to the "best part" according to my boys. Since the knights were using real swords with lots of sparks and attacking, a mesh safety net was lowered between us and the fighting and the Knights battled each other and the "bad guy".
While you could tell the fighting was pretty staged, there was enough sword clanging, sparks, rolling, and fighting to thrill my twelve and sixteen year old. I think they were in heaven and were trying to figure out how they could join the ranks of the kings Knights.
Unfortunately, the Green Knight didn't win the tournament, but we were still able to enjoy the show and save the Princess from the evil bad guy.
Once the show was over, we were able to go back into the outer courtyard and meet all the characters from the show. My boys were able to talk lots of "sword talk" with the knights and get all their autographs. It was funny to see them get all shy around the Princess who kept encouraging them to come over and talk to her, but they were much more interested in the knights.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Myrtle Beach Medieval Times Castle and can't wait to go again. If you are looking for a fun experience for your little Princess or even your big Prince, I would definitely recommend a trip to your local castle.

Easily Save Money at the Grocery Store
Why you should try the new Favado app and how to get the best shopping deals at the Grocery Store using it.

I remember years ago when I was teaching a class on how to save money at the grocery store, there were several ladies that asked how to get the best deals when they didn't have time to search them all out and keep up on the sales and coupons needed. At the time, there weren't a lot of ways to do this other than good online couponing sites and message boards.
But recently, I discovered a way to get all the best shopping deals without all the hassle. I was so excited the first time I took the Favado app out shopping I wanted to share it with everyone at the store! (I'm sure that wouldn't have been super weird.) So I decided to share it with my friendly, neighborhood readers instead.
So now, I just have to tell you how amazing the new Favado app is! And how wonderfully easy it is to use! And how much I absolutely LOVE it! (Can you tell how excited I am about this little app?)
All you need to do is go to the Favado website and sign up for the app. After you download and sign in, you will need to select the grocery stores you want to search. I live in a very small town so don't have that many stores to compare. You can only compare up to five stores at a time, but you can have as many stores as you need in your que.
Once you have your stores set up, you can start checking the local shopping deals and Sales. You can choose from the "Best" of all the sales in your selected grocery stores, your "Faves" (items that you want to keep an eye on), and "All" the sales in the stores.
Once you've found an item that you need, you can click on the link to show you the details of the sale. Favado will show you the item, the size, the store it's on sale at, the dates of the sale, the price or details of the sale, and if you're really lucky a pretty red paper clip. The paper clip means that there are coupons you can use to help you get the best of this deal.
If you click on the paper clip, Favado will show you any printable or clipable coupons you can use--with a link to print them out or where to find the coupon (whether it's from All You magazine, Smart Source, or wherever.)
You can click the blue "Add to List" button at the top and then email yourself the list when you're done. It will send you the links so you can print the coupons as soon as you get near your printer. Although to be honest, I just check where they are from and usually go to Swagbucks or My Points and use their coupon printer so I can get the extra reward points when I redeem the coupons.
When you are out grocery shopping and find yourself at a certain store, you can pull up your Shopping List on the app and it will sort the deals by store. This way, you will never miss a great deal!
I can't tell you how much the Favado Shopping App has saved me in both time and money. I love that I don't have to scour the deal websites to find stores in my area and with products I actually use. I love that it helps me to know where to go to print out the coupons that I need to get the deal, and I love how it sorts them all by store so I don't miss any of the best shopping deals when I'm out and about.
As the holidays are approaching and you find yourself needing to stock up for the BIG Christmas dinner, I hope you'll check out Favado. We all can use a little extra help to make the dollars stretch this time of year.
