Happy April Fools Day!
I love the start of a new month. It seems you can start over and their are all kinds of possibilities and goals that can be set and achieved.
But I'm not a fan of April Fools day. As much as I love most holidays, having kids that get mad and upset when they get embarrassed isn't much fun to me. The boys love to play jokes on each other, but it has a tendency to go too far and then we all get upset.
No thanks.
Am I the only one that feels this way?
But we do love to joke and have a good time in our house. Most of our dinner table is filled with creating family jokes and lots of laughter. That I love.
In case you're like me and want a smiles at the dinner table and not crazy jokes, I made some fun Joke napkin rings that you can print and surprise your kids with tonight.
They are pretty simple both to make and to laugh at.
Start by printing the joke printables at the bottom of the page and cut them out along the outer edge of each napkin ring.
I made mine to go around these napkin rings that I purchased at Hobby Lobby a long time ago, but you can just place them around regular napkins, so just go ahead and wing it as you need.
The joke ring has three parts to each print. You'll have the front, the back, and then the fold.
Score along the center dotted line and fold the joke in half. This makes it so the joke is on the outside of the napkin ring and the answer is on the inside. (no cheating for my kids!)
The last little white tab gets scored and folded too. Add a little glue on this and fold it inside the two halves of the joke so it's touching the answer part. (This just makes a cleaner looking napkin ring.)
Wrap your joke around your napkin or napkin ring and serve with your dinner. If you need some dinner time conversation, you can have each diner read the joke and everyone can try and answer.
It's a simple and easy way to add a family memory moment to your day!

Come Together Kids shared this great Bubble Refill Station. What a wonderful idea! This could keep kids going for hours on a lazy afternoon or at a park birthday party. I know I tried it myself at our Easter party and it was a HUGE hit. Laura shared directions on how to make bubble solution too! Awesome.
A Balancing Act shared a great, detailed tutorial on making your own Fabric Napkins. I tried to figure out how to make some of these a few weeks ago when I couldn't find napkins to go with my party colors and theme. I would rather have cloth napkins when possible since they are so nicer looking, but it's hard to find some in my small town. I'm thrilled to have this great tutorial now, I'm sure I'll be using it alot!
Chrissy's Crafts shared how to make this beautiful Napkin ring from a recycled soda can. Isn't it beautiful? These would be so nice at a Mother's Day luncheon or wedding. They look really easy to make and I'm really considering them for an upcoming party. So pretty!
Sassy Sanctuary shared this amazing Magnetic Banner. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this idea. She used magnetic primer to turn chipboard into this changeable pennant banner. She can change the words to read anything that will fit on this cute banner. What a fun idea that can be changed with the seasons! Did I mention that I LOVE it?
Catch My Party shared the tutorial on how to make a Cupcake Liner Wreath. This is such a pretty wreath. There are so many options with some of the pretty looking cupcake liners out there. You could use this for any color combination or theme. It would make a beautiful decoration at a princess, ballerina, or little girl's party.

Napkin Rings for Any Party or Theme Easy Tutorial
For my 50s dinner party, I wanted to make napkin rings that would stand out and also serve as place setting cards for my table.
But I am pretty frugal in that I don't want to spend money on something that I will only use once or twice. So in thinking about my dilemma and walking around the craft store, I came upon a great idea.
I found these napkin rings at Hobby Lobby. They come 8 in a package and are labeled "colonial style". I really like this style because it works PERFECTLY for the napkin rings I plan to make.
I then spray painted mine black. That's a pretty universal party accent color.
Although I do plan to make a white set too.
I then cut some patterned paper that matches my party theme into 3/4 inch by 5 3/4 inch paper strips. (The pattern part only needs to be 5 1/2 inch, but you need a little to tuck under when securing your ring.)
You can use purchased pattern paper if you want. I wanted to put Names on mine so I printed out paper and made the name 2 inches long so it showed on the front of the napkin ring.
Wrap your paper around the wooden ring. It should just fit inside the notched area of the Colonial Style.
Put a little bit of glue on the underside and secure the paper ring together.
Now you have a set of interchangeable napkin rings that will fit any party theme or color scheme.
When you're ready to change, just remove the paper strip and use new paper!
CHEAP, CUTE, and EASY PEASY!
