Disney Parks First Birthday Party Share
Celebrate a first birthday with a fun Disney parks birthday party. With elements of all your favorite Disneyland and Disneyworld features, this party is bright, beautiful, and full of fun.
First birthday parties are a fun way to celebrate your little one's year milestone. But picking a theme, is never very easy. And then what direction do you take the party in?
It's easy to say you want a Disney party, but that doesn't narrow things down much. But to have a birthday party based on the Disney parks with a little bit of fun from every Disney movie is such a brilliant idea.
Check out this amazing first birthday party by Daniel Moises over at Babble.
The dessert bar and party treats are a definite highlight on this party. Daniel chose to feature treats from the Muppets and from so many points of interest in the Disney parks. The gummy worms are a great way to feature The Lion King, while there are also treats featuring Mickey Mouse, Alice in Wonderland, and Epcot travels.
I'm not sure you'll actually find Kermit the Frog at Disney parks, but what a fun photo booth idea. Just grab some of your favorite Disney stuffed animals and a cute backdrop for a great party game idea.

Tie Dye Cupcakes
, and decided that was, for sure this time, what he wanted.
The cake was a pretty cool design, but I just couldn't swallow paying $4.00 for a box of cake mix. That's crazy. Instead, we purchase a white cake and decided to DIY our own Tie Dye Cupcakes.
We started by making a white cake mix using the egg whites to keep the white color pure for dying. I'm not sure what would happen if we used a yellow cake or used the whole cake recipe on the white mix. I may give it a try sometime, but we didn't here.
After the cake was mixed, we separated the batter into several different bowls. I let Mini Me play with the food coloring to dye to batter any color he wanted. He ended up making 8 different colors.
We lined the cupcake tins and proceeded to start adding blobs and dots and layers of colored batter to the cupcakes. I think this was Mini Me's favorite part. We had a lot of fun mixing the different colors.
Once the cupcakes were about 3/4 of the way full (we only got 18 cupcakes doing it this way), we cooked them as directed on the box mix.
They turned out so cool!

Happy Birthday Plate Tradition
Tomorrow is Mini Me's tenth birthday. I can't believe it.
My oldest is planning to leave the house soon to go off to school and my youngest is a whole decade old. I don't even want to think about how old that makes me.
As we are prepping for the "big day", I wanted to share one of our fun, and easy, birthday traditions.
For this project I bought a boring round circle plate from Dollar Tree and used the Sharpie Oil-Based Paint Marker
. I wanted to see if the results were better than using the regular sharpie markers.
Every year Mini Me asks for a big cupcake cake for his birthday, so drawing a cupcake on his birthday plate was a no brainer for me. But you can draw anything you want...candles, cake, balloons, streamers, the sky's the limit.
When you are done drawing, bake your plate at 350 degrees for 30 minutes to set the paint.
I have to admit, I like the Paint Markers
better than regular sharpies. The colors baked on so much brighter. But that's just me. Have you tried both ways? Which way do you like better? | |
Up Cupcake Wrappers and Free Printable
I thought this would be the easy part. I hadn't even really thought about how I was going to "theme up" the cupcakes. When I sat down to think about how to make the Up Cupcake wrappers, a ton of ideas came to mind.
I finally settled on three choices, and now I need some help deciding which one to use. Can you help me?
I started out with polka dots. I love polka dots and would put them on just about anything. They just seem so happy and colorful. Kind of like little pieces of confetti brightening up the world.
They also look a little bit like balloons, so I thought they would go super well as Up cupcake wrappers.
The wrappers come with a tab and slot closure system, so it makes it easy to wrap the cupcakes whenever I decide.
I then tried a map cupcake wrapper. I thought the travel theme would go really well with this type of design, but I'm not sure it's colorful enough for my party.
Lastly, I tried an Up house design.
I put Ellie's saying about "Thanks for the adventure. Now go have a new one" on the sides of the house on the cupcake wrapper.
It turned out kind of cute, but I'm not sure if the balloons coming out of the cupcake wrapper is too overwhelming.
I like each one of them for different reasons, but I'm not sure which one to go with. What do you think?

Balloon Chocolate Oreo Cookies for an Up Birthday Party
When Carl launched his house into the air using a bunch of helium balloons in the movie Up, I think he brought imagination and dreams of doing the same thing to many children. So it's almost a necessity to have LOTS of balloons at my Up party.
What tastier way to add them than to make Balloon Chocolate Oreos for the party?
Start with a package of Double Stuff Oreos, melted white chocolate, and the Balloon Sandwich Cookie Mold
. You can use whatever colored white chocolate that you like. I plan to use red, yellow, and blue for my Balloon Oreos.
Melt your chocolate very carefully in the microwave. I've found it's best to melt it at 50% power for 1 1/2 minutes at a time, until it melts. White chocolate burns very easy, so be careful.
Take a spoonful of the chocolate and add it to each of the mold cavities.
Tap your mold onto the counter until the chocolate spreads out and looks pretty evenly distributed.
Add a single oreo to the center of each cavity.
Place a little spoonful of chocolate on top of the oreo and tap it until the chocolate becomes smooth. Keep tapping to get all of the air bubbles out of the chocolate.
Refrigerate the oreos for about 20 minutes or until set.
If you want to add a little extra something special, I designed up these Up Balloon tags to add to the oreos.
Simply right click and save the jpg file below. Print and cut out each of the tags. Punch a hole in the corner and use some cute ribbon to tie to the Balloon Chocolate Oreo. I used some cute HAPPY BIRTHDAY Curling Ribbon
for mine and it adds a little color and greeting to the treat.
These balloons may not take our house very far, but they will definitely increase our dreams with their yumminess and sweetness.
