Halloween Rag Wreath

Halloween is my favorite holiday and I'm not sure if it's because of all the bright colors that normally would NEVER go together or the sweet candy everywhere or the fun of dressing up as an adult. There are so many fun aspects of the holiday.

So despite the fact that I technically don't have a front door right now thanks to living in a hotel, I am seriously tempted to run to Jo-Anns and find some super cute fabric to make this Halloween Rag Wreath as shown by Sassy Sanctuary.

It looks so easy to make and the addition of the green EEK just adds a frightfully wonderful touch.

Do you think the hotel would mind if I decorated our door and room for Halloween?  Maybe I could make one for each room!  Okay, so seriously, I guess I'll just have to put this on my list of projects for next year.  (BIG SIGH.)

Shindig Saturday Weekly Linky Party #33

Well, the movers have come and gone.  We're packed up and living in a hotel.  We have one more weekend here and on Monday we pull out and are on the road.

I'm terribly sad this weekend, but am trying to remember that there are new adventure that await us.  There will be new friends.  New activities.  New sites.  New lessons to be learned.

In honor of that, my free printable quote this week is based on the song that got me through my move to Indiana and will hopefully help me the same as we move to Colorado.
I'll go where you want me to go.
So as I'm sad, I will remember that it's all my Heavenly Father's plan and it will be okay.

And to help cheer me up, will you show me what you've been doing?  I've been on a crafting hieatus lately and I'm starting to go through withdrawls.

Show us your newest party or fun creations by sharing your favorite party themed craft, table scape, photo, favor, or whatever! I'm pretty flexible since just about everything can be used at a party...that's the great thing about us moms! We can see the potential in ANYTHING!

Linky Party Guidelines:
* Link up to your OWN project post, not just your blog, but your actual post. (We want to see it!)
*Grab a Shindig Saturday button for your post or blog page. (Hey, it benefits us all!)
*Stay and enjoy the party by visiting and commenting on other's projects. (It's fun to mix and mingle!)

Fun Halloween Costumes

Since we will be in a brand new town and living in a hotel, I'm not sure if we'll get to go trick or treating this year or not.  It really makes me sad since I LOVE to come up with fun, creative, unique, and CHEAP Halloween costumes for my kids.

So I am going to live vicariously through the Internet this Halloween and share some of my favorite costumes from my Pinterest Halloween Costume board.

Halloween Cake Push Pops Free Printable

I just love the new craze of having cake shooters at parties.  They are a such a fun way to add something different to your dessert table and a unique way to enjoy a new treat.

Whether you add mini cupcakes to them, fill them with candy, or add another treat to them, they bring a bit of fun to the party.

And to add a little more excitement, I've made these cake shooter printables for you to adorn your containers.  Just print, cut, and glue on your cake shooters.

If you need them, you can find the cake shooters in our shop HERE.

Halloween Countdown Calendar

It's a BIG week here.  The moving trucks pull up on Wednesday and we move into the hotel on Thursday.  I'm freaking out since there is still so much to do.  I spent all day today cleaning out my craft room.  I got rid of 5 large lawn trash bags worth of stuff, and still have way too much stuff.  How did I ever let it get so bad?

My resolution is to keep it all in check in our new home.  No more half finished projects.  No more buying things because "someday" I'll figure out something to do with it.  No more junk.

Yea right.  I know.  But a girl can dream can't she?

And while I'm dreaming, I'm going to dream about making this cutie!

This Halloween Advent Calendar was made by the amazing girls at The Crafting Chicks.

I LOVE holiday countdown calendars and have a HUGE collection of advent calendars.  So anytime I can find a fun way to countdown to other holidays and special events, I'm a HUGE fan!

This calendar looks like it would take a bit of work and some GOOD scissors, but it would be so worth it!  Check out the cute details and pockets that would fit any cute tricks or treats for your little munchkins.

With all the good TV on right now, this would be a great evening project!  Go check out the Crafting Chicks and see all the details on this Halloween Countdown Calendar.

Shout Out Sunday

Some great party ideas from around the web.

The Gingerbread Blog shared these fun Cupcake wrappers.  I've seen alot of cupcake wrappers before, but I love these made from maps.  I don't know if it's that I'm looking at our long moving road trip next week or what, but I'm thinking a moving party with these would be so much fun!  These would even be super cute at a themed Cars' birthday party.  I love looking around and seeing things that aren't normally used in a party and finding fun ways to use them.  So clever.

All Artful shared the DIY on these Glow in the Dark Spider Balls.  Aren't these just the greatest?  These look so easy with such a BIG impact. They would be the "funnest" decoration at a Halloween party ever.  I love the glow in the dark aspect and will definitely keep my eyes out for that paint!  I didn't even know it existed.
Crossing the Bugger-Dixon Line shared this Itty Party in a Bitty Bag.  I can't get over what a cute idea this is.  Just add a cupcake for a great birthday on the go! This would be a GREAT idea to mail in a card for a far away friend's birthday.  I know I will try this when I move for all my dear friends still living here.

Shindig Saturday Weekly Linky Party #32

I can't believe it...move week is finally here.  This week the packers will be here and we'll move into the hotel.  I feel like breaking into song...and not a good one.  I've had this song going through my head all week...
"I'm not ready!  I don't want to go!  Won't somebody show me how I can stay?" (I'm not ready from My Turn on Earth by Carol Lynn Pearson.

But I know life goes on.  And thanks to Facebook, cell phones, and road trips, friendships aren't lost like they were years ago.  I have the dearest friends in the world and I'm glad to count them as family!
This week's printable celebrates the friends who are important in our lives.  I hope you enjoy this
Friends are the Family you choose for Yourself
free printable.
So instead of being sad, I'm going to celebrate my extended family and party on!
So what have you been doing lately?

Witch Shoe Cake Stand

Cinderella and Dorothy are proof that a good shoe can change your life!

And this Halloween, this amazing Witch's shoe cake stand by the Crafty Sisters will definitely change and enhance your Halloween party!

Using some wood pieces, cute scrapbook paper, and a few crafting elements, this cake stand looks pretty easy and fun to make.  I don't know if you can purchase these shoe pieces at a craft store or if they will need to be custom cut, but it would definitely be worth buttering up a wood working friend or making an exploratory trip to your local store.

Be sure to go check out how to make this Witch's Shoe cake stand and scare up some AMAZING complements at your Halloween party.

How to make a Severed Finger Halloween Party Invitation

Now this party invitation may be too much if you are inviting small kids to your Halloween party, but it certainly would be super fun for older crowds, especially teens!  I wish I could say I thought of it myself or have even done it, but I found it on Martha Stewart's page, so I can't claim it.
But if I were going to get to have a Halloween party this year (Darn moving!) and make a severed finger invitation for a spooky Halloween party, this is how I would do it.

(And promise, I didn't mean to include so many links to Amazon, but they have it all!  I know when I'm working on a project, I need someone to tell me EXACTLY where to get the items I need...even down to the exact isle to buy it in.  I'm that lost sometimes.  So use the links or don't, they are just there for convenience.)
I would start by purchasing this Human Fingers Candy Mold from Amazon.  The mold contains both ways you can make the mold into a sucker and without.  To maximize efficiency in candy pouring, I'd tape off the ends where the suckers are so that none of the pieces have sticks.

Now using some NON-WATER based food coloring, I'd pour all the pieces in a flesh colored white chocolate.

I would also buy this 1/2 Pound Candy Box while I was shopping at Amazon.  (I've seen them at Hobby Lobby and other craft stores, but I think the price at Amazon is pretty good.  Plus, it will help get your price up to the $25 free shipping limit.)  There are 5 in a package, so plan according to how many guests you need to invite.
Once I've put the box together and the fingers are ready, I would place some Krinkled White Shredin the base of the box.  I'm not sure if Amazon has a good price on this or not, since I usually buy mine from a wholesale supplier and have a ton sitting around for candy bouquets.  I know I've seen some at Dollar Tree and Walmart, but if you're still trying to reach the $25 mark for shipping, you might add this to your basket too.

To put my invitation together, I'd take the candy finger and tie a ribbon bow around it.  Now I'd place the finger on top of the shred and there's the main part of the invitation.

Now I made these text pieces to add the party information to.  You can download them and import them into your favorite graphics program, or just print them out and add your party details.  Once they are ready, cut them out and glue to the front of your box.

Now you have a great, unique, and super spooky Halloween party invitation!

Halloween Table Runner

Since we are in the midst of moving, I don't get to celebrate Halloween and make all the cool items that I wanted for the big celebration that I wanted to throw.  So instead, I'm going to share with you my favorite Halloween crafts from around the web.  Hopefully, you'll go check them out and have an amazing party yourself.

Today I wanted to share this amazing Halloween Table runner from Show, Tell, Share.

It's made from black felt and orange burlap.  Although it sounds like it takes a "little" time, it doesn't look hard at all.  I'm considering even trying to make one of these in the hotel while I sit around.

Go check it out and enjoy this cutie sitting on your Dining room table this Halloween.

Hallowen Party Shopping Treats

I think it's finally starting to hit me that we are moving next week.  It hasn't felt real until this weekend.  As I'm packing up my craft room, I'm realizing that it's going to be VERY interesting living life in a hotel room.  I'm praying I can survive the next week without my dear friends to save me...without my full crafting toys (no I'm not going cold turkey, I'm still planning to work as much as possible)...and without getting to celebrate my favorite holiday...Halloween.

I think that's one of the hardest things for me, not getting to celebrate Halloween.  I was really looking forward to making some fun decorations and throwing an amazing party.  Instead, I'll be celebrating it in a very boring hotel room.

So I'm going to celebrate it virtually.  And to start off, I'm going shopping at some of my favorite small businesses on Etsy.
