Mustache Chocolate Truffles Recipe
A few months ago, I started trying to make some of the pins on my different Pinterest boards. A few of those ended up being from the Candy and Treats board. My kids and I really fell in love with a few of the truffle recipes that I had pinned.
So when it came time to plan for my daughter's graduation party, she made only two food requests. She wanted to have Mini Cheesecakes and her favorite Chocolate Truffles.
In trying to keep with the party's mustache themed, I decided to make the chocolate truffles into Mustache chocolate truffles. They take a few extra steps to make, but they are still rather easy and look so cute.
I started by making the Easy Decadent Chocolate Truffles. I can't find who originally made the recipe, just that I discovered it on Book Cooking.net.
I used:
4 ounces Cream Cheese
1 1/2 cups Powdered Sugar
3/4 teaspoon Vanilla
1 1/2 cups melted Chocolate
Cream the cheese and slowly add in the powdered sugar until it's melted. Add in the vanilla and the melted chocolate until there are no more streaks.
While your truffles are mixing, melt some extra chocolate for the coating.
I found my mustache ice mold at Hobby Lobby on a special end cap, so if you can't find these particular ones, you can use this Mustache Ice Cube mold tray
from Amazon.
Fill the mustache mold about 1/2 way with melted chocolate. Use the back of a spoon to push the chocolate up the sides to coat them. Let chocolate sit for about ten minutes and then turn the mold upside down over the bowl and pour the excess out.
Refrigerate the mold to harden the chocolate.
Once your chocolate is hardened, use the truffle mixture to fill in the mold indentions. The easiest way was to scoop out a little and use your finger or spoon to push it down into the mold. Allow a little bit of room at the top of the mold for more chocolate.
Use the rest of your melted chocolate to add to the mustache mold. Pour a little bit of chocolate on top of the truffle mixture and use the back of your spoon to spread it around. Once you have the mold indention covered, lightly tap your mold onto the counter to smooth out the chocolate and get out any air holes.
Refrigerate your mold for about a half hour and then carefully pull away the sides from the truffles. Push on the bottom of the mold to pop out the mustache truffles.
Refrigerate your uneaten truffles in a sealed container when done.

I know it seems like the whole world is into mustaches lately. You see them almost every where and on everything. Drama Queen has had this "thing" for mustaches since she was about six. I don't know why or what it is, because no one I know had a mustache at the time, but she would make a mustache out of anything and everything. She would give herself a hair mustache, a french fry mustache, or a milk mustache every chance she got.
So when it came time to think about what kind of theme we wanted for her Graduation party, we knew we needed to have a Mustache party.
Since Drama Queen has so many friends that she wanted to invite, we needed to find a way to order a lot of invitations for not a lot of money.
But have you noticed how anything graduation themed, is like extra super expensive? I don't know why stores think they can charge extra for announcements or invitations just because they have a graduation theme. So we decided to make our own Graduation Party invitations.
I started by designing up an announcement in my favorite Print Master program. I used the blue and green party colors and added a few pictures from her senior photo shoot by Amber Bryson Photography. (If you're in the Utah area, I definitely recommend her! She did an amazing job with the pictures and my daughter LOVED the photo shoot. She had so much fun.)
Once we had the perfect invitation, I saved the picture and exported it onto my phone. I did this easily by emailing it to myself and then opening and saving it on my iPhone.
I have been a customer of Snapfish for many years now and have always been pleased with their services. Right now, they have a promotion that if you download and shop from their snapfish mobile app, you can recieve 100 free prints once a month for an entire year.
We downloaded the app and uploaded the announcement. Then, it came time to purchase. I got 100 pictures for free and only had to pay $9.00 in shipping. That ended up making the invitations only $0.09 each, and that was WAY cheaper than anywhere else so I was super happy.
Our biggest problem with the whole experience is how long the announcements took to get here. They were shipped out relatively quickly via UPS, but then were transfered to the postal system with no updates on the tracking. They ended up taking about two weeks to get here, which wasn't a problem for us, but if you are needing your pictures quickly, you may keep that in mind.
I am really happy with how the graduation party invitations turned out. They were easy to make, easy to print, and now she's having a great time giving them out to any one and everyone she knows.

It's Saturday! Yea!!
My dear hubby took the boys off to a father/son camp out this weekend, so I've been enjoying a nice quiet house while Drama Queen is out doing "senior" stuff with her friends.
I forgot how much I enjoy the quiet sometimes. But it's also nice to miss them and enjoy their return.
During the quiet time, I've spent a lot of time getting projects done for the company coming for the end of school. I've created a few teacher appreciation gifts for my kids' favorite teachers this week. Maybe it's the one that gave your son the "talk" about being a man and turning in your homework on time. Maybe it's the one that let your daughter come into her classroom for a good cry in the middle of lunch so know one would see. Maybe its the one who changed the spelling system so your son could work with his math strengths and gain some confidence in his spelling ability. Or maybe it's the one who made your son excited to go to school again after months of fights every morning.
There's always at least one who has gone out of his or her way to make school a better place for your child. For that teacher a small Popcorn Teacher Gift might not do it, you might want a little something "more."
For those teachers in my life, I made a Teacher Appreciation Candy Gram gift.
This gift has a bunch of yummy treats inside a clear acrylic container with a sweet poem on the outside. I found the acrylic containers at Walmart near the glassware. There were 2 sizes. I bought the smaller one and found it fit the candy perfectly.
Start with purchasing a bunch of candy bars as needed for the poem you want. I have two different options at the end of the post.
The first one will need: Skor bar, Snickers bar, Mounds bar, Almond Joy bar, Pop Rocks, Gummy Bears, Jolly Ranchers, Smarties, Mints, Nerds and M&Ms.
The second option will need: Sweet Tarts, 100 Grand bar, Airheads, Milk Way bar, Rolos, Snicker bars, Baby Ruth bar, Smarties, Mints, Take 5 bar, Carefree gum, Hugs, and Kisses.
Print off the candy gram poems. I taped mine to the lid of the jar. It's 4 1/4 by 4 1/4 inches. This way, the teacher can remove the poem and use the jar for candy, pens, school staples, or anything else that works for him or her.

Teacher Popcorn Printable for Teacher Appreciation Week
I wonder sometimes about gifts for teachers. Do you think they end up with a ton of apple products that just clutter up their home or desk? Do they have a big garage sale at the end of the year with all the crazy gifts they got from students?
When I'm thinking about giving gifts to teachers, I try and find a useful gift that they can actually use or eat and enjoy. Gift cards are great, but when you need to come up with gifts for each day of Teacher Appreciation week for fifteen different teachers, sometimes cheap, easy, and yummy works.
Today I came up with an easy popcorn printable to give to your teacher this week. It's designed to wrap around an individual size microwave popcorn packet. This way, you can give a bunch of them for a great price.
Simply print out the Teacher Popcorn printable and cut around the edges. Now wrap the poem around the popcorn with the "Thank You" portion over the blank edge.
Make as many as you need for all of the teachers in your life and let your kids hand out to all the different teachers that keep them educated and having fun at school each day.
2014 Graduation Subway Art and Dare To Share Blog Hop
Hello friends! Here it is another Saturday morning. Yea!!
I love Saturdays. They are a day spent with my family. Some days we do nothing and just enjoy the day. Other days we spend running to soccer games and track meets. Other days we spend cleaning or shopping. But no matter what we do, it's a day together and I love that.
Because all too soon, graduation will be here and my kids will start spreading their wings to fly.
And enjoy the time we have together.
So this week, we planned and prepared and partied--together.

She shared some amazing party details from her son's birthdays, including a Portal Cake from the video game Portal. I admit that I'm drooling over the chocolate and cherries. April Reading List
I didn't have a lot more time to read this month as I've been working on several big party ideas, including my daughter's upcoming graduation. So I took advantage of several audio books from my local library. I love that I can download them directly to my phone and listen whenever I am working or playing Taxi for the kids.
iBlog Magazine April IssueI did get to read the next magazine edition of iBlog Magazine. It's almost like Christmas when this magazine appears in the mailbox. I get a few different magazines because I love to read the short articles whenever I have a spare moment. iBlog is great because I feel like it's helping to improve my blog and I'm not just wasting my reading and learning time.
This month they had several good articles like "How to Draw the Most Out of Instagram for your Business", "How Images Influence Conversions", and "7 Fundamentals of Being Buzzworthy on Social Media."
I've been reading my magazine with a highlighter and I feel like some articles I mark more than I don't. But I think that's a sign of a good read.

My daughter gave me this book to read when I was in a book slump and didn't know what to pick up. I admit that I wasn't too fond of Eve herself. I think I really like characters who are stronger and Eve kept driving me crazy. I know I really have no room to talk since I've never been in a dystopian society where most of the population had died and I had been sheltered and lied to for ten years. But I would hope that I would have a little more backbone and adventure. Yet Eve kept making dumb decisions and not seeing what was going on around her.I did get into the book a little at the end and will probably read the whole series just to find out the end. I'm really bad that way. I need to know what happens even if I don't particularly enjoy the book. Plus, I need a happy ending in love stories. I'm just a hopeless romantic that way. The way that Eve ended, was a little short in this department and I have hope for the next book or two.

After perusing through the library's online website for a good audiobook in the young adult fiction section, I came across Matched. Since it was "highly sought after", I thought it might be a good one. I'm not sure if I agree or not.
Once again, the main character is in a dystopian society and trying to find her way through the changes around her. This seems to be a common theme in the books I've been reading lately. I do like that Cassia grew a little throughout the book, but she was still taught to be scared to break the rules. Maybe I'm too harsh on these type of characters, because I am definitely a no rock the boat kind of person, but I do hope that I would stand up with strength if ever I was faced with the choice.
I'm glad at the end that she fights and stands for what she believes. I am anxious to read the rest of the book series.

My Adventure Book Journal for an Up Party
It seems like there are so many elements that should appear at an Up party that it should almost be a no brainer party. You definitely need the Up house. You need Kevin the bird to trot by. And Ellie and Carl's Adventure book should be around to peruse through.
Since my party is for the young women in our church and I'm trying to get them to go Up with their Personal Progress, an Adventure book as a journal and take home favor is a great choice to give the girls.
To make my Adventure book journals, I started with a composition book, the Adventure book front and back printables (found at the bottom of this post), and some home made modge podge.
I painted the front of the composition book with the modge podge and then placed the Adventure book printable on the front by lining up the right and top edges. I wasn't worried about the left side since there was a black strip that wouldn't show the blue mottled background on the composition book.
I'll be honest, I'm considering getting some cute duct tape and reinforcing the seem by placing it over the black strip on the front and back. But I need to find something that won't clash and will look super cute on the book. I haven't done that yet.
To finish off the book, I used a glue stick to glue the first page to the outside of the composition book cover, so it would open right to a double sided page. I like to use two pages to chronicle my adventures so I like that better instead of turning the page to finish out the adventure.
Then I started filling the pages with the things that I've done lately. This weekend Mini Me and I went to a local popcorn store that I just discovered in the small town next to ours. I wrote about the adventure on my other blog Finding the Joy Around Us, but chronicled it in my Adventure Book smash book. I love how it turned out with the fun foam popcorn, the colorful pictures, and the flyer that I got from the store.
I'm pretty excited about My Adventure Books and hope the girls will be too. I think we can spend some time filling them out for our family history classes or our personal progress nights. Plus, they will have a fun smash book to look back on when they are old and grown like me.

I'll be honest, I'm considering getting some cute duct tape and reinforcing the seem by placing it over the black strip on the front and back. But I need to find something that won't clash and will look super cute on the book. I haven't done that yet.
When the front is dry, do the same to the back. I did find the edges of the composition book curled up a little after using the modge podge. I solved that by placing a few heavy books on the Adventure book for a few days, but if you don't like that, I definitely would recommend using a xyron to turn the Adventure book printables into stickers and then putting them over the composition book. (Yes, I use my Xyron for almost everything! LOVE IT!!)
Then I started filling the pages with the things that I've done lately. This weekend Mini Me and I went to a local popcorn store that I just discovered in the small town next to ours. I wrote about the adventure on my other blog Finding the Joy Around Us, but chronicled it in my Adventure Book smash book. I love how it turned out with the fun foam popcorn, the colorful pictures, and the flyer that I got from the store.
I'm pretty excited about My Adventure Books and hope the girls will be too. I think we can spend some time filling them out for our family history classes or our personal progress nights. Plus, they will have a fun smash book to look back on when they are old and grown like me.
